My white kid was rejected from Hopkins with a 1590 and a 4.0UW with top rigor. People overemphasize the weight of standardized test scores in T10 admissions. |
OK MAGA.
Asia has more than 50% of the world population. And Asians are not a monolith. They make for 50 countries of the world. So, "WHITES" need to get their act together and start studying hard like other people and compete with Asians. There is no AFFIRMATIVE ACTION for Whites and Asians. If Whites are the most priviledged race in America then they better make themselves capable enough to compete fairly. Otherwise don't call Trump Taco for reinstating H1B |
You can’t do homework school hasn’t assigned- which isn’t much at all. Asian parents are giving their kids extra work and supplementing their academics at home. They parent very different from Hispanic and black parents. Even (most) white parents don’t supplement academics at home to the same extent as Asian parents do. |
It is unfortunate we can do what OxBridge is doing - interview in person. There is news related to disabled ratio in Stanford? Don't you get longer test taking time Thought that is how people game the system as well

True outlier kind of intelligence is rare. Most people have to work hard. Why are the others not working hard. Because it is not easy to work hard. Its is easy to spend 30 minutes studying but spending more than 1.5 hours takes dedication and effort. I have two kids and despite the same parenting one goes above and beyond when it comes to school work. Spending hours perfecting a paper is good work ethic. My other kid just does not care as much. As for kids going no contact, kids from many other races also go no contact. This is not restricted to Asians. Asian kids are not just dominating math, they are now also winning poetry and writing competitions. Stop with the Asian hate. |

America has gotten as far as it has due to the entrepreneurial efforts of our citizens. As much as people dunk on the DEI, Affirmative action, blah blah era of elite admissions, these schools objectively have admitted students who dominate our economy.
The way people see elite admissions really only makes sense to me if you're an academic: the brightest need to be in academia to invent new ideas in a publication 4 other academics will read and occasionally give us back a return on our investment in their abstract research projects. A lot of these kids go into jobs that don't require the brightest minds, particularly consulting and IB, but they're great places to start a decent career. Frankly, when I think of the merit admissions crowd, I just imagine the most unsympathetic individuals who are controlling our institutions (Sam Altman, Peter Thiel, Joe Lonsdale, Alex Karp...). They don't actually have visions, just people they want "out" of the system. It's unnerving. |
I don't think there is Asian hate. There are so many Indian CEO
I think it's insecurity I am not sure why. I am speaking as an Asian myself. I don't understand why some people need the college name to validate their life but that's their choices |
You would have to upend the entire American education system. Oxford interviews work so well, because they have GCSEs and essentially spend two years studying intensely on their subject exams. Each state would have to make small colleges that are tuition free, so students have enough resources for their major. |
This forum doesn't like racists. |

Btw, want to correct your comment on
*Asian kids are not just dominating math, they are now also winning poetry and writing competitions.* These do not equate the achievement to progress mankind. For that, I haven't seen much from Asian. Even though they do a lot of _looking good activities for the colleges_ I would consider those who achieve to contribute to the societies mean more than these extrinsic success just for getting into colleges |
I know right? Interview in person is the best way to observe a person's critical thinking skill and knowledge depth of a given subject. |
And completely impossible with our current resources. |
honestly, any cutthroat atmosphere comes about because asian students knew they were being held to a higher standard and have to beat out the other asian kids they are being compared to, as opposed to just belng in a general pool of applicants. It Becomes an arms race within the asian community. And the reason why savvy asian parents are now avoiding heavily asian school districts. Hopefully the Rollback of anti-asian affirmative action will decrease some of those unfair excessive pressures. |
Not to mention, once these kids get into college they simply drop poetry or instruments because their parents would never allow them to study liberal arts.... totally waste of their childhood to grind on instruments or whatever it took |
