Fake lashes, dragon nails, pushups… do men actually like this look?

Anonymous
My DH said, "these women are mostly looking like this to impress other women not men because most men don't like it or don't care about make-up and hair at all, their wasting their time and money."

Is this a serious question?

Dial up some porn and you’ll quickly grasp how shallow most men are.

It’s something different when that look is used for tv appearances. Irl it often looks hideous. Fake nails have always been lower class. Fake lashes irl look ridiculous and don’t make the wearer look better. It’s all encouraged to keep lower class women poor.

Why did you use only black eomen as example? Also these women don’t wear “dragon nails” or do any of this to a tacky extent. They are made up to a level expected for a tv appearance.

lowerclass? barf

just because it isn’t your look doesn’t make it “lowclass” (whatever you even mean by that)

op, I would guess the look (esp of the politician’s wife) is emulating the current look of a lot of women in politics and/or under the public eye (of their own right or via being a spouse of someone in the field). as examples, the trump wife and daughters

They say lowclass on DCUM to make themselves feel better about being fugly.

Signed,

Not someone who wears any of the things mentioned, but would never call another person lowclass because of something they wear.

I call complete bs on that. In any human interaction we all size up people and put them in boxes and make assumptions the minute we meet them. It’s important for survival.

seriously?

I call troll. One would fake a mole using eyeliner or something similar not some type of patch.

I think the eyebrow thing is one of the most stupid things I’ve heard of.

All three are accomplished, privileged and wealthy women but they don't have style sense.

This. I’m making lots of assumptions about that poster.

You GUYS are absolutely ridiculous. None of these women where what op is describing in any offensive trashy way. To even put them up as examples OP’s weird obsession is offensive.

It's some what of a drag queen look, and there do seem to be some guys into that.

OP - I guess what I’m saying is outside of the boobs which I understand, the fake lashes and too much makeup to me just doesn’t look healthy or good. I do wear makeup and I’m sure partner would say I look better with some (the “no makeup look” which is actually still a decent amount of makeup when done well), if he were being honest. But if I showed up in a full face of foundation with baby doll lashes he would find it offputting and not sexy.

I have a hard time believing men actually like this and it’s not just women doing it for themselves and for other women.

I have a hard time figuring out why you care what other people look like. You already said it was not for you or your partner, but it still perplexes you about why other people do it or that they could find it attractive. Is it because deep down you're insecure and question your style choices?

Because I want to know if MEN actually like this look. So far only women have responded.

This is anonymous. You have no clue who is responding.

but WHY? You already said you don't like it. What does it matter what some of the men might like?

But OP, what is there to discuss?? Yes, some men like it. Obviously. There is a ton if evidence to that effect. See mainstream porn. Or Lauren Bezos as a PP mentioned.

We understand that you and your husband don't like this look. You probably have completely different values to the people who spend their time and money to achieve the Mar a Lago look.

You want to project the image of someone who uses their time and money for things that are more 'important' than physical appearance (such as education and career).

Others want to project the image that they have endless time and money to spend on their appearance.

Both images are about status signaling it's just that you disagree about what high status is.

Men tolerate this look. Men hate heavy makeup that smears on their clothing or fake tan stuff that stains furniture. They tolerate it assuming women love wasting their money and their time on things.

Who said they are only black women? There are white women on CNN and MSNBC, but they are not household names like Oprah, Michelle and Gail.
