SYC is getting rid of all sports and only focusing on soccer.

First touch is far more valueable than strength until like u16. This is a waste money for like 90% of the SYC families

Same here. Confused as well.

What part don’t you get? The club is unable to pay its bills so it created this program to make YOU foot the bill.

For all of you guys talking about this being an effective use of 20 bucks, that’s your right. The harsh reality will be next year when the ECNL to GA movement picks up and ECNL level girls start to come to SYC. Since SYC doesn’t have any ECNL level girls you parents paying for EDGE will basically be funding a facility for the girls that will come and snatch up your DDs spot. Hardly worth it.

ECNL to GA movement picks up? Has it already started?

Talk about unable to pay their bills...

I will not joining the board (will be attending the
AGM) but one thing for sure, the President, who also serves as the Travel Commissioner has got to go. It's a massive conflict of interest. He has got to give up one at least. Curious how the Travel Soccer Technical Staff and Coaches got ridiculous raises AGAIN. For all you non profit minded folks, I already checked, its not on their 990s.

SYC needs to upgrade the girls coaching staff if they want to start recruiting girls from ECNL.

I have always wondered this. how are they paid? Does SYC use the IRS loophole so they don't have to report or are they paid through some sort of LLC?

How do you know the coaches and technical staff got raises? At the AGM the full budget needs to be shown on where the spending is. There have been rumors for years that SYC scholarships top soccer kids as well so the top kids only pay team fees not tuition. (Or at least the ones the want to grab from other clubs).

Will there be a Q and A session at the AGM?

How do you know the Travel Soccer Technical Staff got raises? At this point all of the technical development at SYC is being done externally anyway. Hence the False 8 jealousy….

Think of all the stupid things you spent $20 on when they were Ulittles: matching headbands with names, swag bags for big tournaments, team gift exchange, chip in orange hair, team pjpants/sweatshirts. Now use your $20 more effectively.... for soccer.

Think about the fact that people had a choice on whether or not to spend their money on all of the ‘stupid things’ you just mentioned. There is no choice here. While you think this might be an effective use of ‘twenty bucks’ others won’t.

Is it true that SYC can’t afford to pay for their own operational costs so they are making it mandatory that families bail them out of this mess? What if families can’t afford to spend another 1500 dollars on soccer this year? Yes, companies pass costs onto consumers all the time but this looks desperate. This is something that parents should have been told prior to signing offer letters.

These are the kind of things that will tarnish SYC’s 5 star rating.

Yes this is my problem with the whole thing

I don't really care if my kid gets a break or not though it would be nice to get one. I know going in what I'm going to have to pay. This sudden change to our team fees violates that trust with me. I know I'm not alone.

Wrong. When you don't pay the team fees, after 30 days of being late, you are banned from practice and games. All the fake keyboard warriors on this thread make the thread almost unreadable. It's mostly 1 ant-SYC bashing person who sock puppets their own posts.

All parents pay a base travel fee rate, then you have to pay the team fees. If you are posting and are acting shocked by this revelation, it is apparent your kid does not play travel sports or you didn't understand or not ask any questions or did not read your contract when you accepted an offer. Its tough, but hardly anything, that is organized in urban areas is free to participate in.
