SYC is getting rid of all sports and only focusing on soccer.

Travel soccer parent. EM completely mismanaged this. He first angered a heck of a lot of us with his Edge $1000 team fees. Then he got greedy and nominated too many people. Then he expected us to vote for his slate. What a joke. No one trusts him. And I support getting rid of all the other sports.

So you support getting rid of other sports that 1000s of kids participate in?

We were just told the optional EDGE training would only be $220 for 11 sessions. Which is a great value over the other training options in this area, which run closer to $40 per session. And it is optional, except for the 1st teams U13-U19... which to be honest, is a great deal for year round prioritized team indoor training space.

Secondly, 'getting rid of the other sports' is a complete mischaracterization. That is not the same as dividing SYC into SYC Soccer and SYC All other sports, it would be easier to manage if that were the case. No one wants to remove options for kids playing sports, it's just becoming an organizational management problem.

My DS is 1st team so it’s “mandatory.” They angered a bunch of 1st team parents.

Was told 1st team (MLS & GA) trains 4 days a week. and often 1 if the 4 training day gets cancelled, especially on the boys side. At best there are 3 training days, now 1 of those days is EDGE for an additional cost. The first team club fee for MLS and GA is already higher than the lower team. that's a switch and bait when i see it.

MLSN parent. Doesn’t the league have requirements for amount of hours they have to train each week? If your club is violating that why not report them to MLS?

If your club offers you a MLSN contract and does not follow the technical standards, then you have a strong case for them breaching their contract.

The team determines the team fees at the end of the day. the team decides/agrees which tournaments they play, travel to, events they want to go, have veo or not. All those decisions and wants makes up the team fees. If as a team, no one wants to attend a certain tournament, which typically costs about $1000, excluding travel, then the team doesn't go and fees are less.

The grass is green, water is wet, the sky is blue, but no matter what they keep growing. Forget the higher teams with the badges. I'm talking about lower teams at younger ages playing in the basement divisions that no one gives a rats ass about. Parents are driving from far and wide so their kid can get in. It's impressive in a way and not sure it would work in any other business or industry. Hats off.

This may be true. But there’s only so many top team players. And those are the ones that make their entire model work.
