Overlee Crash & Burn

Looks like Overlee was able to get back in form yesterday and did well at the meet.

OKM also put up a lot of solid swims against Tuckahoe based on the results online.

For D1 I think it’s great to have good, competitive teams in the mix. The kids can enjoy close competition each week.

THIS. I dread the Tuckahoe and Chesterbrook meets every summer because the teams and families are so over the top obnoxious. Overlee is all in but in a good vibes kind of way. I am also pretty sure they won the D1 sportsmanship award last summer! No need to drag on them instead of being impressed with OKM.

I attended the OKM meet yesterday at Tuckahoe and wanted to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the Tuckahoe swimmers, families, reps, coaches, and everyone representing the team. The officials were top notch, kind, and easy to work with. The timers were all great, chatty, and gave us a great experience at their pool.

I don't know why there is so much hate on this forum for the Tuckahoe team. The people at the meet yesterday are nothing like what is described in these posts. Overlee was great and Tuckahoe was great. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

OKM continued with a good showing against Chesterbrook, missing the win by 2 points. Nice to see them performing well.

Yes, OKM has a great group. Overlee looks to have done pretty well against Tuckahoe as well. Tuckahoe is a very strong team. It will be interesting to see if Chesterbrook swims them close.

We watched the meet today but were completely unimpressed. Is there a better pool that we should join instead? Our oldest will be old enough for the team next year, and we are worried that Overlee is in a downward spiral. We want our kid to swim with the best, because we all know that’s the way to get faster.

My kids swim and I am friends with a bunch of parents who were D1 and D3 swimmers. They are by far the most laid back parents on the team when it comes to their own kids times and development.

Have you seen the videos floating around of how the entire older CB kids intentionally splashed all the OKM swimmers — their stuff, their parents, everything — as they walked into their pool?!! What [all the expletives]! It took their team rep yelling at their coaches to stop the behavior. How embarrassing that these adults and kids acted that way. This is why the rest of us in D1 want them exiled. The coaches and the kids were doing it. I’ve seen multiple videos. This is the consistent Chesterbrook behavior that has to stop. The league needs to get involved.

That’s terrible! It should be reported to the NVSL and they should be penalized. That’s completely unsportsmanlike behavior.

PP: It took the OKM team rep yelling at the Chesterbrook coaches to tell the CB swimmers to stop. I guess the CB team reps had not done anything to stop it (just based on the videos I have seen, anyway).

My guess is NVSL will get involved. It’s pretty egregious.

CB stole stuff from our pool last year. Really unimpressive behavior.

Does this mean CB is out of the running for the sportsmanship award this year?

At least a few. It was OKM’s walk-in, and teams tend to video that for their IG reels and things. I’ve seen one video, but you can see others with a phone out in the video I saw.

The only way to get CB to stop is to start making them forfeit wins or disqualify them from attending events lie ASR
