Pls don’t cancel your Kennedy center tickets

There are tons and tons of unionized workers employed by the KC in performing roles as well as ticket sellers, stage hands, lighting, etc. Many of the performers currently have contracts for shows that were planned prior to the Trump takeover. If people start cancelling their tickets, it will give the Trunpies an excuse to potentially cancel those contract and then just bring in crap like Kid Rock or potentially bankrupt the KC (maybe paving the way to sell it for real estate?). I hate Trump but no one should boycott unless the unions call for it. Boycotting now is just harming the workers, the arts, and the city’s future artistic heritage.
Thank you.

It's only a matter of time before everyone at Ken Center is fired.

The DC unemployment office is going to be swamped. To all who lose their jobs and who worked in DC, make sure you apply for unemployment in DC because it pays more.

The purpose of art is to express yourself. There is no woke art. To cancel Eureka is really interesting considering RFK jr and his stance on vax. A nation that starts policing what its citizens watch on TV, read in the newspapers and consume via the arts... is not a democracy to say the least.

And Arena Stage- great venue.

KC will survive but they’re going to have to dumb down the shows a lot. The decor is a bit too grandiose too, so that will need to change. Maybe some flashing lights would work better.

This guy wants to do the exact opposite:

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2025/02/21/paolo-zampolli-kennedy-center-plans-00205280

Wants to create a catwalk for high level fashion shows with galas for one.. and "He wants a marina for boat parking and water taxis outside; a Cipriani restaurant upstairs; international outposts in Europe, Asia and the Middle East; live collaborations between the Center and astronauts in orbit; and a revenue stream from lounges sponsored by countries like Qatar and Turkey, among others."

Hmmmmmmm

Who will work there if they fire everyone? How will they run the place. I assume they still want to have performances and keep the place open? I guess a prerequisite for the new employees is to be MAGA?

I have a relative who works there.

Remember, they were already hit hard earlier in the decade during the pandemic. Given what they do, working from home was not an option. Tough times, then and now.

I can’t imagine there is a lot of MAGA in the arts. Maybe a lot of Christian singers and choirs?

“Known nazi” is beyond farce and feels like you maaayyyybe need to have someone point out to you what actually Nazis did so that you don’t continue to insult the memories of the 6 million Jews who were brutally tortured and MURDERED under the Nazi regime.

Mean words that result in someone’s hurt feelings or passing laws and drafting policies that you disagree with or even “put lives at risk” (as goes the argument) may well be something to get upset about and protest. That’s all fine.
But you really need to make this its own argument rather than use hyperbolic comparisons to the world’s worst mass atrocities to make your point.
Otherwise you just look like a literal clown.
