And if those 6 million Jews (and gays and others) were alive right now, they'd be reminding you that Nazis didn't start with death camps and that their initial rise looked JUST LIKE THIS. Who do you think they'd be more insulted by: those of us who are so horrified by the Holocaust that we are vigilant against and resistant to even a whiff of similar dynamics or by people like you who invoke them to excuse and minimize how horrific it is to see public officials repeatedly giving Nazi salutes on national television? I'd rather be an aggressive anti-Nazi clown than a disgusting sympathizer and excuser.

+1 the problem in the US is that people can’t fathom that what happened in Europe can’t happen here. Fascism can take root anywhere, and we can clearly see its roots emerging here. We are at the beginning of a very scary road, and I would urge anyone scandalized by people calling it out for what it is to reflect on what’s happening and the role you will play in helping to save our democracy.

I agree with both of you. But we must speak much more persuasively. We know Americans are terrible with history and most believe that American exceptionalism will keep us safe. My issue with people who liken this to the early days of Nazism and facism is not the comparator, but rather it causes people to close their ears. We have to think of a better to communicate the danger.

I donate thousands annually to the Kennedy Center. I’m not doing that any more. I’m not canceling tickets to events if I already have them, but I’m not buying new ones.

The programming won’t change immediately - arts scheduling takes place so far in advance. So it hasn’t changed yet, but it will. Trump doesn’t think that the current offerings reflect the best of American culture.

PP what is the point of posting lies on an anonymous board. The board is appointed to six-year-terms that overlap. It has been that way from 1971 until 2025. Even the Kennedy Center honorees have been bipartisan and crossed party lines. It will be interested to see who the honorees are the next four years. All Magats and billionaire donors, no doubt.

I am really sad because we had a nice tradition going with the children’s Christmas sing along, but I’m not going to go if Richard Grenell is making a huge thing about promoting Christianity for the holidays. It was just a fun show for anyone. Now I feel like it will have an overt political/religious agenda. It’s such a bummer because my kids will outgrow it before peace returns.
