I hope they have the ceremony someplace else and make a HUGE deal about it |
THIS would be great. |
Curious what makes you say this? People voting with their feet or dollars is common. Is there a real reason or just bc you like DT? |
Louise Penny (one of the best mystery writers) canceled her appearance at KC due to Trump's action. Audience members are going to stop or at least reduce attendance not only because they want to protest what Trump has done but also because a lot of performers are pulling out. If the list of performers willing to perform there drastically decreases then of course audience attendance will decline.

I'm not a Trump fan, but I don't see any real evidence of any significant changes except for performers voluntarily cancelling their own shows. Its over reaction. And previously, the KC was primarily run by those that supported Democrats. I'm guessing you were A OK with that? |
If there is a show at the KC that I want to see, I will still go. But honestly, for the last couple years, the other area venues have been putting on shows that I’ve wanted to see. My guess is it’s going to get worse the next couple years. |
Kennedy center won’t miss you. It’s a beautiful venue and we should still support the arts. |
If they’re unionized, shouldn’t they strike? |
False equivalence. Trump isn't just "a republican". Even the republicans don't think this. Trump is a zealot, a loose cannon, a nazi sympathizer (if not an outright nazi himself), a felon, a thief, a cheat, an unabashed misogynist... It's not overreacting for performers with morals and integrity to refuse to perform for the profit and publicity of a tyrant. The sheer number of people protesting should've clued you in to the fact that this has gone WAY beyond simple R vs. D politics. |
Uh, as long as they are not literal fascist nazis then people should be ok with that. |
Do cancel your tickets.
If you want to support a union worker, buy tickets for them to work somewhere else, or give them money directly. Support workers, not bosses. |
You’re not taking into account that the nature of the artists is going to change (even if people weren’t boycotting it.) |
You shanked it, maga. If you Sieg Heil, you're a Nazi. If you give keynote speeches to Sieg Heilers, you're a Nazi. If you talk about how "Hitler did some good things", you're a Nazi. If you call millions of residents of your country "vermin", you're a Nazi. If you hire a Sieg Heiler to be your #1 advisor and right hand man, you're a Nazi. And if you try to provide cover for those people, you too are a Nazi. |
+1. Don't worry; I'll buy your seats. |
I don’t think that’s true. The board gets appointed by whoever is president. The composition is supposed to lag/overlap. |
