Too late. I'm above circle member and we are DONE. There are other venues and ways we can patronise with our money and time. |
What’s in it for him? He does nothing that doesn’t directly benefit him. |
Oh! So, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Sheldon Whitehouse, Mark Warner, Chris Van Hollen, Hakeem Jeffries, and many more are just "honorary"? No. You're wrong. Ex Officio members can still vote. ![]() |
We have tickets for a family performance this spring and we’ll still go to that, but we’re holding off on purchasing tickets for anything else until we see what he does with the place. I don’t want to have to walk by MAGA / Trump propaganda. If it stays the same and we’re still interested in the programming, and I don’t lose my job due to RIF/schedule F (all big ifs) we will keep going. Taking our young kids there several times a year has been a very special time for our family. It’d be nice if that’s something we can keep doing. |

It seems some artists are canceling shows. |
Good for them. |
Bingo for the win! Good analysis. You are 100% right about Trump. He wouldn't give one cent of his own money and is likely to steal. I am guessing he wants to give himself awards and have others to pay for theirs. I go to NYC anyway to see Broadway shows. |
You realize that they are vastly outnumbered since Trump fired all the Biden appointees and packed the board. Right? Right? Surely you cannot be that stupid. |
Capital One Hall in Tysons is also a great venue. They have the various ballets and Broadway shows (usually four Broadway shows a year). We saw Waitress there a few years ago.

It’s over KC is on its own. No more federal funds. |
Wait - did you say "Biden appointees"?? So Biden made his OWN appointments. Yet you're upset that Trump did the same thing? Surely you cannot be that stupid...? All of this pearl-clutching when none of you will acknowledge that BIDEN fired tons of Trump appointees upon taking office in 2021. Grow up and stop being whiny hypocrites. https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/06/politics/biden-removing-trump-board-appointments/index.html |
Your deranged leaders and followers clearly are in need of therapy. Anyone who finds joy in what they are doing has something wrong with them. Anyone who is fine with installing a dictator has something wrong with them. |
The Biden appointees were far more moderate than the deranged rabid animals that orange man is installing. Even you can admit that. His appointees are there to actually destroy institutions. |
Eh. You and Sean Spicer think that Spicer’s being asked to leave his position on a Naval Academy Board is somehow “exactly why” Trump is politicizing the Kennedy Center with his unprecedented takeover. Nope. I mean, obviously you can think what you want, but not only are the two things not the same, the forced efforts to “both sides” and view Biden as an all caps precedent-setter in politicizing things in ways that smooth Trump’s power grabs is forced — at best. I have educated myself. I think it’s wild how few people actually bother to read beyond the click-bait headlines. |
OMH. You really are that stupid. From the New York Times: "The board consists of 36 members who serve for six years each, meaning that even though presidents get to pick who serves, the board is not often evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. In Ms. Rutter’s case, a majority of board members in recent years were Trump appointees from his first term, among them Pam Bondi, now the attorney general, and Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor who is Mr. Trump’s nominee to be ambassador to Israel." See, the president hasn't fired prior appointees to the Kennedy Center Board before. This is unprecedented. That's a big word for someone like you, so let me explain. It means that it hasn't happened before. Biden did NOT fire all of Trump's KC appointees. |
