The deadline forcing people to respond today has been paused.

Delayed until Monday, when the judge has scheduled another hearing. Judge wants to review the merits of the case over the weekend.

Judge will very likely issue a permanent TRO on Monday. The plaintiffs strongly argue multiple violations of law by the Fork program and OPM.

Now that Bondi is in they should stop frivolous litigations like this as they cost tax payers a lot of money

Explain how this is frivolous and what part of the Constitution allows her to stop litigation.

The federal judge in the birthright citizenship case gave a little warning to DOJ attorneys by asking what kind of law grad would affirm they were making non frivolous arguments about that case. It's a hint that eventually judges are going to grow so weary of this crap that they will threaten to refer egregious DOJ lawyers to their bar.

Again for the people in back. IT DOESN’T MATTER. It’s illegal to promise money not appropriated. And we are under a CR until 3/14. No matter how many loopholes they close, it’s not real until Congress says it is. Separation of powers? Congress has the power of the purse?

Sad how many feds would fail a civic 101 exam.

+1 And Congress is probably not going to appropriate funds for people to sit around and do nothing for 8 months. Can you imagine how well that would go over back home? Case in point, my family back home has no idea this has been going on for week. I explained the deferred resignation thing to my brother (conservative but not MAGA) and he was like excuse me....WHAT? I told him about the "take a vacation" language, and I thought his head was going to explode. Fun times.

Why would unions challenge this? Let people take it if they want. People are entitled to make informed decisions including taking risks.

It's the deadline that's been put n hold, not the programs. Your friends can still sign up if they want.

Kind of weird to be made that more people might be able to participate, if you all think it's such. good thing. Hmm.

I ain’t mad! Bring it on! Give them another month! Trump is doing a great job! Leave or be ousted!

We aren’t mad either and are waiting to be ousted - another month is 2 more pay periods - thanks MAGA!

At this point it's just part of my morning inbox cleaning.

I hope someone is saving them for historical purposes.

A colleague of mine noticed that were coded to delete themselves so they are saving them as PDFs.

Fascinating, and totally not suspicious in any way, shape or form.

I printed them out.

They're setting themselves up for a FOIA lawsuit if they are coded to delete. FOIA is the absolute easiest thing to sue on.

can you explain more? what can one get out if a foia lawsuit? money? who can be sued? musk? the email writer?

Yes, they can fire you. And absolutely will do it - this is actually their ideal situation since there's no severance, no unemployment, etc.

If you are required show up, you go to the office. Even if this is in violation of your CBA. The union grieves AFTER you go back to the office. But you absolutely need to show up.

It doesn't really matter what his base "thinks." That's all show. If he signed an E.O. "outlawing" indoor plumbing, they would cheer it on.

He sure is keeping lawyers busy with all this law breaking though -- again.

I had a friend laugh and say she was surprised I didn't take the 8 months vacation, like it was the deal of the century. I'm not even eligible.

DOJ attorneys have a new item to add to their resumes - extensive experience being a chew-toy

The problem is there’s so little information available in which to make a decision.

No need to yell. I am aware of how appropriations work. And in normal times, that may be something that stops this. We are not in normal times. Turn on the news. No one is stopping Trump, Elon, Doge . . . .

You'd have to FOIA the documents from OPM FOIA. Then on day 20, sue for non response. OPM will lose and they'll have to pay your court fees. If they no longer have the records, add that to the lawsuit.

No, you can't sue federal employees (not sure that Musk counts as an SGE). The Department becomes named in the lawsuit. Lots and lots of NGOs fund themselves through FOIA lawsuits. FOIA is impossible to do in 20 days, so the Departments always lose. It's become very expensive across the entire government.
