I’m curious why a nonfederal employee would be in this thread since the news just broke.

My relatives are taking the deal and one is in their 70s and ready to retire, they are thrilled to get 8 months paid. Now it seems like the liberals are throwing things to delay it causing turmoil, no wonder everyone things nothing gets done in govt its not the system its the liberals

And they should be worried that their social security checks will stop since Elon's hacked that system with a bunch of 21 year olds. Democrats insisting law be upheld is not "causing turmoil".
