Is the plan to just stay closed indefinitely until Spring?

I've been driving around today. Roads and schools are already cleared. This is ridiculous.

Ours aren't.

Address. I don't believe you.

I'm new to the thread. And I can tell you that as one who lives in Derwood my street has not been plowed. And I'm not doxxing myself by giving you an address. That would be stupid.

I guess that kind of stuff only gets posted by those who live downcounty, since it’s going unsaid this week.

Loudoun County says “Hold my snow shovel”. We’ve been trying to do this for years, but it won’t happen.

This has been an ongoing question forever. I started teaching in the county in the mid 90s. They were talking about this back then. Ain't gonna happen.

As of now, 89% of roads in the Silver Spring service area have been plowed with almost 100 miles of road still to go. That means 11% of roads, all residential, hundreds of homes. I don't care if you believe me, this is straight from the county.

Given you can drive on snow for a few blocks, that sounds fine. I bet there are tire tracks from your neighbors that have been doing thay all day.

Anyone have a picture of an impassable road with no tire tracks?

Interesting point! Yes, someone always brings this up, but oddly not this time. The upcounty/downcounty flip of this storm is probably why!

Not sure that I get the dig, but an inside the beltway person and I will say it.
We should for many reasons, and not just snow days. Each cluster should instead be a school district.

Excellent. I just re-watched that scene. When will Taylor’s court martial commence?

I hear they're moving to an immediate Article 39a Session.....

Safety is their main concern. All it takes is ONE accident... I agree it's frustrating, but our county is 500sq miles. Keep that all in mind.....

MCPS admits they haven't cleared school grounds. The shopping centers have all managed to do it.

And yet many private schools are closed.

Many follow the MCPS rules/closures. There is no excuse MCPS hasn't cleared the grounds.

MCPS: You can’t handle the truth!
People, we live in a county that has snow, and that snow has to be cleared by people with shovels. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, students? We have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for school closures, and you curse the Central Office. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know - - that the closure of schools, while inconvenient, probably saved us from lawsuits; and our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves bigger problems.
You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t post about on forums, you want me closing school - - you need me closing schools.
We use colors like “green,” “yellow,” “red.” We use these words as the backbone of a system communicating something. You use them as a punch line.
We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a community who constantly asks us to make a decision and then questions the manner in which we made it.
We would rather you just said “thank you” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a shovel and clear a parking lot. Either way, I don’t give a D*** what you think you’re entitled to!
MOCO PARENTS: Did you order the Code Red?
MCPS: I did the job - -
MOCO PARENTS: - - Did you order the Code Red?!
MCPS: YOU’RE GOD D*** RIGHT I DID!!!

Not sure if you noticed the trend, but all counties are run by one district. PG, AA, FCPS, Howard, ect. MSDE mandated this way. Take it up with the state.
