At this rate, I wouldn't rule it out with the way MCPS is moving.

MCPS: You can’t handle the truth!
People, we live in a county that has snow, and that snow has to be cleared by people with shovels. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, students? We have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for school closures, and you curse the Central Office. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what we know - - that the closure of schools, while inconvenient, probably saved us from lawsuits; and our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves bigger problems.
You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t post about on forums, you want me closing school - - you need me closing schools.
We use colors like “green,” “yellow,” “red.” We use these words as the backbone of a system communicating something. You use them as a punch line.
We have neither the time nor the inclination to explain ourselves to a community who constantly asks us to make a decision and then questions the manner in which we made it.
We would rather you just said “thank you” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a shovel and clear a parking lot. Either way, I don’t give a D*** what you think you’re entitled to!

Safety is their main concern. All it takes is ONE accident... I agree it's frustrating, but our county is 500sq miles. Keep that all in mind.....

Instead of spending those funds on who knows what, a better budget process would instead to roll any unspent snow removal funds into a restricted account at the end of the year, for the next year or the next year, in the event there is....snow! Seriously wondering if they treat their household funds and budgets the same. Easy to spend others' money (in the form of new and higher taxes and assessments)

My RE assessment just went up by an absurd amount. They couldn't have put any of my extra dollars to work to hire some guys down at home depot to clear snow? Is the plan to just stay closed indefinitely until Spring?

I've been driving around today. Roads and schools are already cleared. This is ridiculous.

Ours aren't.

But DCUM’ers only look at their neighborhood to decide lol

Because there are 211 schools and some aren’t plowed and most walkways and sidewalks aren’t shoveled and safe to walk on

Ours aren't.

Same. And we are in Chevy Chase, which DCUM seems to think gets gold plated snowplows.

I think the only reason our street finally got plowed today is because a police officer lives on it.

Wah wah. Enjoy your kids!

Enjoy your kids, don’t coddle them.

I just took 2 weeks off enjoying my kids. I have a job to get back to! We're on week 3 of break now.

So get back to work. Arrange childcare if you need it. Enjoy!

Childcare? I pay for it, but it's closed too.

Having to work when your kids have a snow day is part of parenting. Figure it out. You can do it!

Teddy! Put down that scalpel! Did you even scrub in?

MCPS admits they haven't cleared school grounds. The shopping centers have all managed to do it.

MCPS has cleared schools.

I haven’t seen a single post yet about how we need to split up the school district because a countywide district is too big and kids in one part of the county shouldn’t miss school just because another part of the county isn’t plowed yet. I guess that kind of stuff only gets posted by those who live downcounty, since it’s going unsaid this week.
