She's no Johnny Gill

I’m shocked someone on DCUM knows who Johnny Gill is.

My teens saw it yesterday and said they thought Ariana was great but that it was way too long and thought they could’ve done both parts one and two in the two hour and 40 minutes… i’m sure the movie will do great regardless but movie productions have to think about these super long movies given these generations are used to fast moving social media, etc.

I am a 55 year old woman. The first time I heard Ariana Grande sing, I listened to "One More Time" over the loud speaker at a nail salon.

I was thinking it was spa nail salon music. Her voice was absolutely beautiful. I have that song, and the song "No Tears Left to Cry" on my playlist.

Ariana Grande is a very strong singer. If you didn't know what she looks like, you would probably enjoy her music more.

I heard the acoustic version of "One Last Time" the first time I heard Ariana Grande sing.

Is the purpose of Elphaba's dance in the club, when she sets down the hat, to just demonstrate that she's different and not afraid to show it? Or is it meant to be like a duel challenging Galinda?

Yes, the movie covers only Act I of the musical, even though it's as long as the whole musical. You have to wait a year to see Act II.

What a terrible idea.

It’s just such an obvious cash grab that it instantly turns me off from the film.

So movies shouldn't make money?

Did I say that? Why don’t you take that stick out of your ass. They do it so one movie makes twice as much money. It’s cynical and stupid and bloats the whole production.

It’s not done to make the best movie possible.

I shouldn't be surprised but, I think your comment is so over the top angry over nothing.

I am going to wish you a happy Thanksgiving in spite of your crudeness.

I’ll tell you what it is. It’s challenging an observation that is absolutely accurate (that the whole two part movie release thing is a complete cash grab) and with something that was completely NOT said or even implied. Of course no one makes movies for free. People here cannot for five seconds resist trying to start a stupid debate and it gets old really fast.

You shouldn’t be surprised at all when its treated with disgust.

How did we get from Wicked to Johnny Gill? Love it!

I do not especially like either of the leads and my expectations were low but holy crap I loved this movie. They both sounded incredible, it looked beautiful, and I was utterly entertained for the entire run time. And I so loved Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero.

Honestly I was thinking of Christina Aguilera first, but I forgot the name of the song.

But how does it feel being stuck in the 1-year intermission now?

I think she's talented but the pop production audio engineer of her radio songs ruins it. Maybe that bodes well for the movie.
