Just as one example, there are 5th graders at my kid’s school who identify as wolves and the other kids get in trouble if they use the term “furry” rather than “therian.” Meanwhile the few black kids at the school have been called racial slurs and rarely does anyone get in trouble…the admin seems totally clueless it’s even happening. This is in a purple state, with many Trump voters. The sad and complicated truth, from someone who has been teaching 17 years, is that Trumpism has empowered kids and adults to say the “n-word” again. It disgusts me. It’s also absolutely true that the gender issue is pervasive, and Dems look dumb when they deny it. Another example…we have a HS state champion runner who is a trans girl, who keeps winning big, even though when she ran with the boys team she didn’t even place. Is it a huge deal to me personally? No. Would I vote for Trump because of it? No way. But it IS happening and when Dems deny that it is, they piss people off. Plain and simple. |
How’s that pretzel you got yourself into trying to make this argument? Richard Spencer endorsed Kamala, moron. It’s the democrats who want to judge everyone on skin color and “identity”. If this is happening it’s the definition of f*** around and find out |
If Trump supporters started demanding that everyone agree that “elves are real,” holding “elf lives matter” rallies, and that they put “Elves are real” in their email signatures, and if they then tried to demonize and ostracize anyone who didn’t go along with that, do you see how that could be really off-putting to most people?
And for people who are cattle-like here followers and went along with that and put signs in their front yards saying “in this house we believe in Elven rights”, don’t you think those people would then be receptive to whatever else insane thing the government wanted to do? |
Hard to imagine anyone with a dumber take on politics than John Oliver.
Maybe the ladies on the View.” |
I would never ever vote for Trump but in my own household I have had very heated arguments about the fact that my lived experience as a biological woman is not the same as that of my white male at birth, transitioned at 40, female friend. We are on the same team, but we are not the same and it is incredibly damaging to women who are born into the patriarchy to suggest so. |
What state? |
Don’t disrespect the ladies on The View. They did the most significant interview that Harris faced all campaign by getting her to say that “nothing comes to mind” when asked what she’d do differently than Biden. The question I want an answer to is why the UK doesn’t give Americans shows on the BBC to talk about their politics. |
We spent weeks debating “women vs. pregnant people” when we should have been out there fighting about packing the courts to restore roe.
Face it. |
Because it is not small, when elementary students and minor children are asked for their pronouns, it shows that it is everywhere and cannot be ignored. The left has allowed tyranny by a small, tiny fraction of the minority. Stop making people choose pronouns and their preferred gender on all forms if it is such a small population. |
Not a young woman's athletic scholarship depends on pitching on the softball team or the university allowing a trans man to take your place and scholarship because they can't compete with non-trans men. |
I think I am very tired of men today.
Men lost us this election if we are going by the numbers. And yet, here the rest of us are pitting ourselves against eachother again. We should be asking what’s wrong with men but we won’t. Too hard to confront. |
Kamala voter and I agree—the fact that this rarely happens is totally irrelevant to a low info voter. They don’t like it, people have to stop defending it and not be afraid to say that it’s wrong. |
Thank you for sharing this. I think the issue is that the people running the campaign assumed they knew what people were thinking/feeling. I did not vote for Trump but for whatever reason he and his team seem to have a much better pulse on voter sentiment and priorities. I am sure Dems polled and polled, but they also needed to be out there talking to people to gleam the nuances of what specifically are bothering people. For example, on inflation: Instead of tell people that the economy was in great shape due to Bidenomics (horrible term), acknowledge that it's a real issue and dig in by ask why and where do people feel the pain? likely their grocery bill. then follow that up with a question about what you'd want an Administration to do? Pressure the Fed to keep i-rates high, pump less $$ into the economy? go after grocery stores for price gorging, increase SNAP benefits, etc etc. In terms of the Trans issue, the socio emotional teachings in school curriculums do not bother me, but I have seen some bad implementation due to poor teacher training and taking time away from core academic subjects. For example, I don't mind including my pronouns in written communications at all, but when speaking and introducing myself I think it wastes time and is silly. Another poster on a different thread mentioned she is a Black woman who campaigned for the Dems and they kept wanting to send her to socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhoods. But she has multiple degrees and is an immigrate from an African nation. She also canvassed for the GOP and they sent her to speak to immigrant communities which was more aligned with her experience. Basically, the Dems just saw her as "Black" rather than a person with unique experiences. That is a huge problem. |
-says the low information voter |
Have you ever listened to rap music? they say the n word constantly during their songs. That’s what kids listen to. |
