I don’t think this is why Kamala lost.

Honestly, it was a combo of all the social stuff together.

And this combo is why many decided to not vote at all or simply vote third party.

Do you think by voting red all the pervasive transgender kids taking over your high schools will cease to exist?

DP. Asinine comments like this are so useless. The only issue is biological males competing in sports against biological females. That's it. It's interesting that people like you have spun it to sound like anyone saying that scenario is unfair is somehow "transphobic." Grow up.

One issue is that it’s an example of liberals demanding that everyone pretend that something that isn’t true units true. “Trans women are women and if you don’t say that you are a bigot!” Well no, actually, they aren’t, and it’s sort of Maoist to try to intimidate people to go along with a falsehood. Like that episode of star trek TNG where they try to make Picard say “there are five lights” when there are four (or the 1984 chapter they riffed). Sorry, no, the public refuses to let the left break their will.

And I always laugh that "the party of science" is insisting people can change their sex. They cannot. Sure, you can call yourself a different gender and we can play along, but anyone who actually believes the science knows full well that we cannot change our biological sex. It's gaslighting x infinity.

So trans GENDER doesn’t mean anything to you? You just said you can call yourself a different gender BUT. But nothing. That’s all they’re saying.

Sure. But when it comes down to competing in sports, you can't simply deny that a biological male has a huge physical advantage over a biological female, even if the transwoman "feels" she is a woman. I thought you were the "party of science"??

Gender doesn't mean anything. It's just a social construct regarding how individuals present themselves which often correlates with but does not cause biological sex. FFS the only reason some forms ask for gender instead of sex is because our society is to immature to not make an Austin Powers joke.

Not a young woman's athletic scholarship depends on pitching on the softball team or the university allowing a trans man to take your place and scholarship because they can't compete with non-trans men.

Kamala voter and I agree—the fact that this rarely happens is totally irrelevant to a low info voter. They don’t like it, people have to stop defending it and not be afraid to say that it’s wrong.

If it happens a single time, it’s happened too many times.

Biological males should not play sports on any level with women. They are not women, women are women. It’s not hurting their feelings, it’s telling the truth.

None of you gave a shit about women and girls sports until it gave you a reason to have a grievance against transwomen.

The only people I know who bring up this topic are female athletes and parents of daughters.

Republican men were bringing it up constantly and I would expect that to continue even after Trump bans trans girls in girl’s sports because Republicans would melt away if they didn’t have something to be angry about. People still talk about Lia Thomas and she hasn’t swam in 2.5 years. Republicans talk more about trans people than trans people do.

Then it's good that Democrats are finally talking about trans men. Trans men do not spark joy in the electorate despite Kamala's beliefs.

this is also false. the dems actually did not run on progressive identity issues at ALL. find me one democratic ad that did. go on, i'll wait.

DP. It doesn't matter at all if they "ran on progressive identity issues." The point is that those issues have gone off the deep-end and Americans are sick of it. If anything, they should have spoken up like Tom Suozzi, a moderate New York Democrat who did not apologize for talking frankly and factually about it being wrong for biological males to physically compete with biological females. He won his re-election, probably in large part because so many *other* moderates are done with this nonsense.

“Done with this nonsense” = they’ve heard 24x7 RWNJ propaganda about it for the last few years

In reality, it’s not a significant issue. At all.

A few years ago, Republicans realized that transgender topics trigger voters, especially older women, so they’ve been relentlessly pushing this. They were totally transparent about this.

We are all tired of their BS.

Weird how you think you speak for all voters. Profoundly narcissistic, truthfully.

The Gen Z vote data shows you are wrong anyhow but truth doesn’t seem to be your forte.

I think people like John Oliver have contributed a lot more to voter apathy than he might care to acknowledge. I used to find him funny but he has become more and more insufferable, and for lack of a better term, up his own @$$.

(I’m also SO tired of men passionately mansplaining what it is to be a woman to me.)

The thing is, these christians are terrified their kids will learn what being gay or especially trans is and put a name to the way they’ve been feeling all along. It’s not indoctrination they’re scared of. It’s learning about queer people because some religions people’s kids end up being LGBT. They want to force them to be cisgender and have straight relationships. They want to trap their children in unhappy lives and sham marriages with unwitting partners because they (the parents) feel they have a vested interest in their kid being straight and not trans. That’s the truth of the matter.

It's like you never had children or are delusional about how children "absorb" what they are taught in school, how they emulate what their friends do...how much peer pressure there is in schools. I don't believe the 10 commandments belongs in school either...but neither does gender ideology.

Interesting that you say everyone is tired of their bs yet Democrats lost the presidency, SCOTUS, Senate, and House.

I don't think trans people lost us the election, they are just people. They exist. More power to them.

But I think the red guard insistence on gender doctrine was one of a few social issues, probably amplified by bots, that pushed liberals into rhetorical traps where they had to deny logic and biology so as not to look "hateful."

BLM, "defund the police," and Gaza are the other big ones. They were inspired by by good intentions. That did not mean the people pushing the most extreme versions of them had good intentions.

Even on these boards, it was impossible to have any rational debate on puberty blockers, women's sports, or medicalized gender transition for minors.

While I am sympathetic to people who see these issues as matters of life or death for their children, I'm also cynical about that framing. I also see a lot of reasons why that thinking is grounded in regressive gender stereotypes of what is masculine and what isn't. I see a lot of reasons why suspending or stunting puberty is a terrible idea. I see reasons why girls sports, already second fiddle to boy's in most places in terms of funding, engagement, etc. are further marginalized when the girls themselves have competition that's stronger and faster just by virtue of the Y chromosome.

If it’s such a small portion of the country, why is my HR dept DEMANDING that I start including my pronouns on company emails and correspondence?

Because I don’t understand why I need to do that for such a small portion of the country.

I’ll take “things that didn’t happen” for $100.

But if it’s true, what’s the big deal??? Why is asking people to be respectful of everyone too much to ask????

It absolutely IS happening to me right now. A major media company based in northern Virginia is demanding that all employees- thousands of them all over the country- include their pronouns on all company email signatures.

So we want to be respectful of “everyone”? And what happened to being respectful to ME, who doesn’t want to engage in pronoun silliness?

Sounds like you’d be thrilled to sign off she/her so you can more clearly let everyone know you’re not “one of them”.

Your internalized misogyny is off the chain. Here you are mocking another woman for having an opinion.

(I'm assuming you're both women. Because, let's face it, most guys don't have to care).

I don't like to put pronouns on my profile or anywhere because, frankly, they're *not* an identity. They're just pronouns.

How stupid are you guys. You just lost an election to an orange baboon over this and you're still fighting it.

Normies? Wtf is the matter with you?

Nothing, and that is the point. We are tired of being told to disbelieve reality to appease a religious cult.

Even Caitlin Jenner - a transwoman - agrees with this!

I agree with you, but I take real umbrage that it takes a man telling us it is an issue before anyone believes women saying it is an issue.

This is the part you don't get. 70% of the US population tried telling democrats that this needed to stop. We fought and were called bigots, women were labeled TERFs.

So we did what Julie Roberts told us: we went to the privacy of the ballot box to fix it. Being nice didn't work, so now you get the cudgel.
