Short Stature Adult Height

Agree. I think you really see this play out in families with multiple kids of the same gender. We know someone with two boys, one of whom is 6 feet and one of whom is 5'8. We also know someone with a son who is 6'7 and a son who is 6'2. I think there is a range and some kids fall in the middle and other kids fall on the outer edge.

I don't recall height being this important when i was growing up. As long as you were taller than her in heels, there was no issue with height.

Social media makes it important.

Social media does seem to perpetuate the " 6-6-6-6" rules for who women can date.

If a woman is very tall, it makes some sense but why is this even an issue for women under 5'.8", which is average male height. Why not focus on factors which actually matter in success of a relationship, like character, personality, mental health, eduction etc. What good is height if guy is into drinking, drugs, debt or infidelity?

I feel sorry for all the moms with short sons.

I have always dated shorter guys, including my husband. I’m not a particularly tall woman, and that was never a dealbreaker for me. They are seriously underrated and overlooked. Hoping my daughters are smart, too,

If one has shorter genes and hoping to improve family genes than having height as one of the criterion makes sense or next generation would repeat the cycle.

It's just who you are attracted to. I am 5-1 and dh is 6-1

When I was in my country women didn't care about my height; they only cared about my wallet. I moved to the US 2 years ago wow. The amount of women who tell how gorgeous I am just for being tall is flattering of course but also shallow at the same time. I am 6'4. Imam now dating a woman who makes twice my income. In my country it would have never happen. It is as if American women such a high premium on height and attractiveness. I guess once you are successful and money is no longer an issue you start going after shallow traits such as height. Plenty of great men under 5'9, but I am sure many of these men need to try harder.

My son is nearly 18 and he is shorter than I am. I'm just under 5'7 and I'd say he is likely 5'6 or so. My dad was 6'2 and my sister is 5'11 so this is unlike our side of the family but my DH is 5'10 and adopted so we have no idea how short his parents were.

I'm 5'2" and DH is 6'2" kids are now adults (and we are probably each an inch shorter)

Son was always 99% and taller than all the other kids until about 7th/8th grade, then they started catching up. Pediatrician estimated he'd be 5'10" and he is happy to be 6'

Daughter is 5'5" and wishes she were 5'7"

We are equally a 5'2 and 6'2 couple. Our son is 12 and already 5'8 and our daughter is 10 and 4'6. My dad was 6'5 and his wife 5'0 at best. Among 5 of us I am the only one about 6'0 all my siblings are under 5'10.

No height does not run only through mom’s genes. Our pediatric endocrinologist who works with growth hormones and short stature explained that kids generally track one relative. My spouse is 6’3” as is his dad and younger brother. His other brother is the shorter one at 6. His mom is 5’4” and the same thing happened to his uncle’s family. His paternal uncle is 6’3” as is the boy cousin while the aunt and girl cousin ended up at 5’4”

I am sorry to take this off track, but my son is 5'7", which is definitely short, but not incredibly short. However, he looks so tiny compared to his friends, I feel like he must run with a particularly tall crowd. He has one friend who is 5'9", and they appear in the same general range (although my son is clearly shorter), but his other friends look huge compared to him.
