My son was expected to be 5 ft 4. I hoped he would eek out a few more inches. He surprised us! He’s 5 ft 11. His younger brother who was always a higher percentile is actually a few inches shorter. I don’t think prediction tools are that reliable.

With the 5'4 prediction was that based off of your heights or his height growing up?

It was based on his height when he was young. I was told to double the height at age 2. But I’m also really short.

Marrying a tall man as a short woman doesn't always produce tall children.

Truth:

I am 5'4
DH is 6'2

DS (18y) is 5'8

This tracks! In our case 5’2” + 6’0” = DS 5’8”. It’s a fine height.

All of the height predictor calculators from toddlerhood through early childhood said that my daughter would be 5'6". She is 17 now and exactly 5'6".

I’m 5’3” and DH is 6’1”. His mom is 4’11” but his father was 6’2”.

If you predict our son’s height based on mid-parental height, it says he’ll be 5’10” but the height calculators that take into account child’s current age and height, it says he’ll be 6’1” or 6’2”. As it turns out, DS is 14 and 5’11” and I bet will reach his father’s height.

I am 4.11. Dh is 6.2. Ds is around 5.11. Dd is 5.6. We think ds might grow another .5 to 1".

So, not always true.

Your family is just tall. Period.

He’s not off the chart short and she said she’s just curious about how other kids grew. She doesn’t need an endocrinologist.

Yes. I just really wanted to know if any parents of short stature kiddos followed their curve to adulthood. For instance if they were 5-10 percentile growing up that they stayed on that curve.

DS was supposed to be 5’10” according to his growth chart. He ended up 5’6”, which is his father’s height. I am 5’4”.

According to our growth chart he is tracking to be like 5'7-5'8, so he will probably do the same as your son and fall short especially since he is in puberty already at 12.5. We shall see. It would of been cool, but it is what it is lol.

I am pretty sure the title was for short statured parents/kiddos to chime in not for this type of rude comment.

Not always. It's such a crap shoot. My son is 15 and he is 5'9 and I, his mom, am 4'11. Dad is 5'9 as well.

"Height runs thru the mom's genes" is the dumbest take I have read on here in weeks.

My 5’0” SIL has two college age sons who are at least 6’0” like their dad so I don’t think that is true.

I’m 5’1” (DH is 5’11”) and our boys are in track to be 5’9 and 5’11”. My DD has been close to 80th percentile her whole life. Lots of short women have taller kids. Maybe not like 6’4” but the short woman/tall man combo is fairly common and I’ve see a lot of boys towering over their short moms.
