Short Stature Adult Height

Anonymous
This is for moms with sons that are smaller statures. My son has always tracked in the 25th percentile since he was about 3 years old and I am just curious if your kiddos followed their growth curve when they were on the shorter side. We as parents are smaller, I am 5'3 and he is 5'4, but our DS is tracking to be 5'7. It would be nice if he made it there, but I know that it doesn't always happen like that. Just curious, did your kiddos stay true to their curve?

I don't see anything about it?

My son was always at 5% for height and I think he was predicted to be 5'4. He's 5'6 at age 16. I don't think it's a perfect science.

Height runs through the mom’s genes. My sister and I are 5’9”” and mom was 5’10. Dad was 6’1”.

Well, then maybe he will be 5'7. All the men in my family are 5'6-5'9. It would be cool if he is 😀

So with him, he is over the prediction. That's awesome!

My husbands parents are both under 5’8”. He was short and skinny until late senior year HS into first year of college where he grew over 6”. He is 6’1”. All of his relatives that I have met are in the shorter side so no one knows where the height came from. His sister and her husband are on the shorter/average height and their son is 15 and about 5’ 10”. Anything can happen

My son is convinced that weight lifting in high school made a difference, that he grew to his optimal height. Not to be done too early in HS though, generally not before 9 grade or it might do some harm. No idea where these thoughts came from but it was discussed in the weight room. Btw, he never took any supplements that many weight lifters use.

I'm 5' 2", DH 5"6". DS is 5'8 and 1/2!

My son wants to gain muscle so maybe that is something for him to look into when he gets older.

My son got lucky then my daughter not so much. I am 6'0 and DW 5'2. Our 10 year old daughter is 4'6.
But my son is 12 and already 5'8 and quite muscular already. On my side we have height but we are skinny. He is an outlier.

Muscular already? He is almost done growing. Might make it to 5'10.

My son was expected to be 5 ft 4. I hoped he would eek out a few more inches. He surprised us! He’s 5 ft 11. His younger brother who was always a higher percentile is actually a few inches shorter. I don’t think prediction tools are that reliable.
