Someone in Arlington killed an adult black bear, and left them in a big plastic bag

Black bears are docile and mostly harmless. If it is brown or white then maybe.

Probably someone trapped or killed a bear somewhere else, brought the body to a local Asian herbal medicine dealer, where the gall bladder and other parts with “medicinal” value were cut out, and then the cut up remains were bagged and dumped.

100% guarantee that the necropsy will show the gall bladder was cut out. Bear gall bladders are worth hundreds to even thousands of dollars from Chinese herbal medicine providers.

Ah the DCUM racists are out this weekend.

Do you think there's any science behind treating people with bear parts, or any medicinal value when used that way?

I don't care what culture promotes it -- it's just medieval thinking.

Um yes. There is science behind it. I'm not saying people should poach bears to get it. But you are simply wrong (and racist?) to think that there is no proven scientific benefit.

Modern investigations showed that it has a wide range of pharmacological actions with little toxicological side effect and the pure compounds have been used for curing hepatic and biliary disorders for decades.

Modern pharmacological research showed that bear bile has the following pharmacological actions: (1) antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect, (2) anti-hepatotoxic effect, (3) choleretic lithagogic effect, (4) anti-liver fibrosis, anti-tumor, anti-pyretic and sedative effect, (5) anti-convulsant and analgesic effect, (6) lowering lipid and hypotensive effect, (7) anti-tussive and anti-asthmatic effect, (8) improving eyesight, (9) anti-stress and relaxing effect

Why would it be in a trash bag?

Someone trying to move it off their yard without paying the $250?

I can assure you that Black Bears native to Arlington are harmless and will not hurt you under any circumstance.

If you see one, please go up to it and say hello. They love to have their ears rubbed and will give you a hug. They pose no danger to dogs or small children. Make sure to leave food out if you see one around your home.

Arlington Black Bears are less dangerous than MAGA.

Because most white UMC women have almost zero survival instincts and then actively disregard any remaining cautionary alarms from their primitive brain.

The ones around here aren’t.

A bear is a bear. Just because it’s in a UMC neighborhood doesn’t mean it’s still not a bear. Black bears CAN be dangerous. A woman in Frederick was nearly mauled to death by a juvenile male black bear about 6-8 years ago. Juvenile males are the exact bears we’re seeing locally. Their mothers have kicked them out to find their own territory.

Black bears occasionally kill humans. A college student in NJ was killed and partially eaten by one a few years ago while out walking on a trail with four other people

You’re a complete idiot who knows zero about nature if you think black bears aren’t potentially dangerous or even deadly just because they’re in a HHI zip code.

https://nypost.com/2014/11/25/hiker-took-cell-phone-pictures-of-bear-before-deadly-attack/

You know for someone calling other people “idiots” who “know zero about nature” you might want to get the basic facts straight about your own linked articles. That bear attack in Frederick was a female Mama bear with three cubs and was attacking to protect her cubs. These are not Mama bears with cubs in Arlington.

And you are the authority on all bears in Arlington, HOW?

It's reassuring to know that I wasn't the only one concerned. The police informed me that they had already received a call and were preparing to investigate.
We had a black bear cub in MoCo many times but never heard of someone shooting it. I ran into one when I was on a walk with my dog.
This is another reason for me to dislike Virginia, among many other reasons. I wonder if it was a NoVa resident who hit our MoCo fawn.

How do you know the driver isn't the one who called?

You are correct, I don't know. Thank you for correcting me. Probably was the driver. Which makes me think even more highly of Maryland citizens. They do not shoot bears like their counterparts in NoVa.

How do you know the bear was shot?

Because murda lander's think virginians are all gun toting hicks

Exactly. It should be a fair fight. If the bear doesn't have a gun, you shouldn't have one either.

How is it a fair fight, then? I don’t have giant claws, pointy teeth, and the strength of 8-10 people.

Are you always this stupid? Or is today exceptional?

Nothing is keeping you from going to the gym, sharpening your teeth, or growing your nails. Buck up, buttercup.

I was wrong. You’re even stupider than I thought.

Hope something awful happens to you this week. Ta ta.

So tell me what is better about raw bear bile extract over synthesized UDCA, which has been made in laboratories since 1955? That's what modern medicine that has moved on from the last century uses to dissolve gallstones, and it has no impurities or contaminants.

Or would you have diabetic children suck on animal pancreases instead of using pure synthesized insulin? Really?

An actual zoologist would tell you that bears can be unpredictable, no matter how tame and friendly they seem. And that leaving food out causes bears to lose whatever fear they did have of humans, and associate people with food -which always ends badly for the bear, and sometimes for humans too.

But you’re clearly not a zoologist. You’re just a sub-par troll, giving people really dangerous advice. Hopefully Jeff deletes your post.

A gun nut either shot the bear or someone drunk driving hit it. The person was attempting to hide the evidence so whatever happened is criminal in nature.

Possibly the bear darted out in front of a vehicle which hit and killed it.

Prefer that scenario over possibility of a barbaric intent to remove organ parts from the poor bear. Sheesh.

Have you ever pulled over and put a 200 lb dead animal in a trash bag after hitting with your car? Would you ever if you did? Ever hear of anyone doing that?

So i guess we can rule that out.

This makes me want to start killing bears and eating their gall bladders. Not even joking.
