| LOL at all these people acting like they have any idea what to do with a bear corpse. |
Actually, Alaska Red King crab is the best but most Alaskan bears can't get to those. |
|
The bear was only 100lbs. So a wandering juvenile. It was probably killed outright. The people who hit it reported it. The transportation crew was called in to dispose of it. And they didn't. Why? I am envisioning the morons from Parks and Rec: the dumb pair who work for Animal Control. They need to be fired for cause. You don't "train" that sort of employee back to any sort of accountability. |
Maybe it was thrown from the Langston Blvd side of the wall along the hiking trail. If the truck went through that subdivision, I imagine there are lots of cameras on houses and buildings. |
It’s named here https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/06/04/dead-bear-plastic-bag-arlington-illegally-dumped/ |
|
Is there any chance the bagged bear was placed on top of deer remains, the pile was too high, and subsequently the bear slipped and fell off the vehicle?
But that begs the question why did they travel into Arlington? Perhaps their radius for picking up dead deer and other wildlife includes Arlington? Pure speculation, of course. Trying to make sense of this incident. |
Are you drunk? |
| If they were going to dump it, they should have not left it in a bag, so that scavengers could have had a nice meal. |
|
“Obviously throwing [a bear] off an embankment of an overpass is not at all standard operating procedure,” Kamilakis said.
Not sure why but I keep chuckling at this quote. So obvious! |
| Virginians are strange |
I checked the policy handbook. He's right. You are only supposed to throw small animals, less than 10 pounds, off an embankment. |
These guys are a menace if they hit enough deer to fill the back of the truck. |
No. They dumped it there intentionally. They admitted to it. “ The Webber contract workers were called on May 29 to pick up a bear that was killed after being struck by a vehicle on I-66 in Prince William County, said Chelsea Jones, an Animal Welfare League of Arlington spokeswoman. Then, the contractors brought the bear to Arlington, where they “illegally dumped the bear over an overpass onto the Custis Memorial Trail,” |
You do know bears can swim??!?!?!! |
|
I hope I never hit a bear (or a deer. Or any animal!).
But what number should I call to get help for the injured animal? Just any veterinarian practice? TIA! |
