Someone in Arlington killed an adult black bear, and left them in a big plastic bag

Probably someone trapped or killed a bear somewhere else, brought the body to a local Asian herbal medicine dealer, where the gall bladder and other parts with “medicinal” value were cut out, and then the cut up remains were bagged and dumped.

100% guarantee that the necropsy will show the gall bladder was cut out. Bear gall bladders are worth hundreds to even thousands of dollars from Chinese herbal medicine providers.

Ah the DCUM racists are out this weekend.

It's reassuring to know that I wasn't the only one concerned. The police informed me that they had already received a call and were preparing to investigate.
We had a black bear cub in MoCo many times but never heard of someone shooting it. I ran into one when I was on a walk with my dog.
This is another reason for me to dislike Virginia, among many other reasons. I wonder if it was a NoVa resident who hit our MoCo fawn.

How do you know the driver isn't the one who called?

You are correct, I don't know. Thank you for correcting me. Probably was the driver. Which makes me think even more highly of Maryland citizens. They do not shoot bears like their counterparts in NoVa.

I bet the murderer killed the bear in Md and then dumped it in Va to throw the popo off their trail. That would be just like someone from Md, always trying to make Va look bad.

How do you know the bear was shot?

Because murda lander's think virginians are all gun toting hicks

Exactly. It should be a fair fight. If the bear doesn't have a gun, you shouldn't have one either.

How is it a fair fight, then? I don’t have giant claws, pointy teeth, and the strength of 8-10 people.

Are you always this stupid? Or is today exceptional?

So if the gall bladder is missing and/or the paws, you will explain that how? Poachers go where the money is.

Nothing is keeping you from going to the gym, sharpening your teeth, or growing your nails. Buck up, buttercup.

Do you think there's any science behind treating people with bear parts, or any medicinal value when used that way?

I don't care what culture promotes it -- it's just medieval thinking.

How do you know it was someone "in Arlington?" Anyone could have killed the bear anyplace and dumped it in Arlington. It happens all the time with dogs and cats.

If the bear died in Maryland, it would probably be because it choked on one of those overrated crab cakes.

Maryland bears have exquisite taste and know that Maryland blue crabs are the best food. It would have died happy. In Virginia, the poor bear was shot because it was black, a common cause of death for many in Virginia.

More so in Baltimore, MD. If you don't get killed with a gun you die from a fentanyl overdose.

Why? Bears are dangerous.

No they aren't. I regularly have them in my neighborhood--three at my house this week. Humans are much more dangerous to bears than vice versa.

Any woman who knows anything about black bears, which is what you'll find in most of the continental US, would choose the bear.

Yeah, it’s not racist, it’s just a fact that there’s a market for bear parts for traditional Chinese medicine. No idea if that’s an issue here with this dead bear of course.

Not a regular occurrence, but not terribly uncommon. A young black bear was seen wandering around a few miles away from this location, a few weeks ago. There's usually a handful (<5) bear sightings a year.

Maybe the dead bear is the juvenile’s mother

This is what I was thinking.
