Chipotle can be just as healthy depending on what you order. I put them in the same category. |
| One a week. Always CFA. My two year old is going to town on a chicken strip as we speak. |
| Kids are teenagers. They did not know what McD was until their nanny took them to get a Happy Meal when they were four and six. One kid wasn't a huge fan, the other was obsessed with Happy Meals. I told her she could have one Happy Meal a year and nowadays neither kid likes McD. However, there is a Chick-Fil-A right across the street from our house. They get grilled chicken nuggets or a sandwich 2-3 times a month. They get Panera and/or Five Guys about once a month. They've never had Burger King. I am an immigrant, and we are definitely an "ingredient household" that doesn't keep a lot of snacks in the house. Chick-Fil-A is a special treat. |
Or at least some similar places. For a fast food place the quality is very good . |

If by fast food you only mean fast food chains (Macdo, burger king, taco bell) then very rarely:
My 11 year old daughter probably once 1 year My 9 year old son maybe 3-4 times a year (because of soccer game days and carpooling with other families) However, they eat pizza once a week. They eat burgers and fries when we eat at local diners or restaurants every 10 days or so. They eat the school lunch once a week (and that is worse than Macdonalds). They eat some frozen fish sticks or nuggets or mac and cheese in a box once a week on busy days. We cook from scratch almost every night, are pretty obsessed about nutrition and aim for minimally processed foods. But they still end up every 4-5 days or so with some from of fast food/junk food between school/outings and crazy busy nights |

Maybe once a month. Probably less. I have that rare kid who doesn’t like most fast foods and almost always prefers a home cooked meal. He will eat a grilled cheese from Five Guys or a chicken burrito bowl from Chipotle. No other fast food— doesn’t like hamburgers, French fries, chicken nuggets or sandwiches.
We used to get pizza once a week but now I make homemade pizza, so that’s out, too. |
All of those are fast food. OP needs to grow up. She sound like an insecure parent of younger children. It's definitely not child abuse to feed kids fast food - you have seriously crazy uneducated friends if they think that. Are you feeding your family enough nutrition? Is it a mostly balanced diet? If you answer yes, then it doesn't matter. FWIW both my kids are super skinny and when they were little and we went out I'd let them order chicken tenders and fries every where. The only judgement I really got was from the mom of an only child who was massively overweight. She made her kid eat fish and salad. Which would be great but the kid would snack all day long on junk and have big desserts after dinner - she wasnt satisfied from salad. I ignore the judgements and have one rule - healthy stuff goes down first. Then fill up on whatever... now my kids range 8 to young adults - all healthy! I monitor nothing these days. |
+1 Folks have wierd ideas about what constitutes fast food. If they regularly serve it to go - its fast food. OP, to answer your question - often. |
+1 Taco trucks, bao, noodle places, dumplings, Indian take away, cava, kabobs, gyros, cubans, pasty, bratwurst, cheese croissants... I can think of fast food from nearly every where! Which country lacks a fast food option here - investment opportunity! Immigrants don't eat fast food--- bah! |
| Once a week! |
| Oink oink |
Yes, this. We all love Chipotle and it’s a meal we eat once a week on the way back from sports practice. My kids don’t like McDonald’s or Burger King. I don’t think we’ve had Wendy’s in 2024 but we’ll eat there occasionally. Chick Fil A maybe once every couple of months. Taco Bell maybe once or twice a year. |
If you don’t think Chipotle has healthy options I can’t have a conversation with you. |
I had Chipotle last night...a salad with grilled chicken, extra fajita veggies, both kinds of beans, mild salsa, corn. It was delicious and my version of healthy anyways. |
Unless you are only buying the grilled chicken CFAs chicken strips and nuggets have the same high saturated fat, cholesterol and a days worth of sodium. Their chicken is better quality but it just comes down to preference. Once a week is not a big deal at all. |
