Yes, Blair is the largest school. RM is the 5th largest. She may already be cashing in on that stipend.

Right, and that little stipend is insignificant when you add extra time for the extra commute and gas. Heck, it's actually a financial demotion when you add those 2 factors. No matter how you slice it - it is a lateral move!

You seem very invested and insistent that you know where she lives and is unwilling to do the commute that she did for 22 years. Very strange.

Well maybe I do! Most people who are happy with their current situation won't move for a lateral move that gives them less time with their own families. Frankly, I find it strange that you all don't want to admit that this is lateral. I am not invested, just firm in my stance knowing what I know.

Cabin John (where you say she lives) to RM is 21 min drive. Cabin John to Blair is 25 min drive. Just saying.

When the school district was trying to accommodate WJ families and reopen Woodward so that WJ would not be overcrowded, the school district could not come up with the numbers to justify reopening Woodward, especially when the DCC HSs (including Blair) were overenrolled or estimated to be overenrolled beyond what WJ was looking at. Moving CAP was discussed and it will come up again.

A better solution is to make appropriate boundary changes.

Given the population growth in downcountry, a better solution would be to build another high school there. Unfortunately, geographical space is limited.

There is a national principal shortage. I have heard that there are MCPS schools where no admin even applied to become principal for them. Can’t blame them. School level Admin have to put in so much work beyond school hours and deal with everyone else’s problems. Lately the real challenge has been dealing with mental health problems of students and parents. Very demanding situations.

I must say it is great to see this thread champion a couple of great principals. Hopefully actions toward these 2 ladies and to unnamed others match the sentiments behind the words. A little kindness from our school communities goes a long way when there's such dissatisfaction and angst due to the current state of MCPS. I am speaking to myself because I need to and will do better. Reading these boards is a wake up call! ☹️

This is a public board where readers access some but not every single thread so we comment on what we see. They're building Woodward to help cover down county population growth.

And teachers. My principal has lost several teachers to depression and addiction. Lost meaning left, not dead.

I’m just another fan of Ms. Johnson’s. My oldest had her as principal at TPMS and then both my kids attended Blair under her administration. She was a fantastic principal. I wish her the very best in her retirement.
