Renay Johnson retiring from Blair

This will be a big loss; my family are huge fans of Mrs. Johnson (our third Blair student is in 9th grade this year).

Yes, really sad to see this. Have a current senior there and an in-coming 9th grader

Agreed! (Parent of a graduating senior and a younger Blair student). Very sorry to see her go.

MCPS is pretty much turning over almost every high school principal in the last 4-5 years, no?

Good riddance! Terrible principal.

With Johnson retiring, the two longest-serving HS principals will be Beth Thomas at QO and Cary Dimmick at Gaithersburg, who were both appointed in 2018.

This is a real shame. She's a fantastic principal, at least from the parent perspective. Wonderful communicator, and adept at dealing with the diverse parent/student populations at the school. It takes an experienced and diplomatic administrator to navigate a school that has some of the most- and least-privileged kids in the county.

Forgot one: Dodd also started at Whitman in 2018.

Given that she's retiring, probably not.

For so few principals to make it past six years says something about MCPS.
