Once the CAP departs for Woodward HS (and yes, that will happen, no matter the pretend study that is scheduled), the character of Blair will change significantly. Between that change, the school's name change, and just managing a very large school population, I would say Renay Johnson has chosen a good time to retire. She has done a fantastic job!
There has been no discussion of moving CAP. Several years back, there had been discussion of creating a new performing arts magnet at Woodward, but there have been no updates to that in awhile, and now that Woodward's size has been reduced, there will be little or no room for it to host a magnet of any type.
When the school district was trying to accommodate WJ families and reopen Woodward so that WJ would not be overcrowded, the school district could not come up with the numbers to justify reopening Woodward, especially when the DCC HSs (including Blair) were overenrolled or estimated to be overenrolled beyond what WJ was looking at. Moving CAP was discussed and it will come up again.
A better solution is to make appropriate boundary changes.
Given the population growth in downcountry, a better solution would be to build another high school there. Unfortunately, geographical space is limited.
