CAP isn't departing for Woodward. It's a DCC-only program. If Woodward part of the DCC, then I think an actual down county school like BCC should also join.

What makes you think that a DCC-only program such as CAP cannot be moved to the non-DCC school Woodward? There are no laws against that happening. The school district will either continue to restrict the program to the DCC student cohort (75 students per year) or enlarge the cohort so that westside Woodward students can apply to be part of the program as well.

The question for Blair is, what does the overall student cohort look like if (when) CAP departs for Woodward HS? It currently has an ever-FARMS rate that is more than 54%. This is the question that Blair-bound families should be addressing.

Yes, she was one of the APs at Blair. I remember Ms. Johnson congratulating Deeny on her appointment as principal at TPMS, while at the same time regretting that she only had her for two years at Blair.

Ah, so she has a track record of going back to a school where she is loved (years at TPMS, brief stint at Blair and back to TPMS)! Looking forward to her appointment at Blair!

Never say never, but Alicia Deeny lives in the Cabin John area, so much closer to Rockville, than 4 Corners in SS. With the hours that a principal works, commuting distance is a real consideration. Plus, Deeny has worked hard to successfully unite and lead the RM community - no one walks away from that easily.

Where she lives is irrelevant. She has very strong connections to Takoma park and Blair.

It’s very relevant when you consider the long hours a HS principal puts in.

There has been no discussion of moving CAP. Several years back, there had been discussion of creating a new performing arts magnet at Woodward, but there have been no updates to that in awhile, and now that Woodward's size has been reduced, there will be little or no room for it to host a magnet of any type.

When the school district was trying to accommodate WJ families and reopen Woodward so that WJ would not be overcrowded, the school district could not come up with the numbers to justify reopening Woodward, especially when the DCC HSs (including Blair) were overenrolled or estimated to be overenrolled beyond what WJ was looking at. Moving CAP was discussed and it will come up again.

Well maybe I do! Most people who are happy with their current situation won't move for a lateral move that gives them less time with their own families. Frankly, I find it strange that you all don't want to admit that this is lateral. I am not invested, just firm in my stance knowing what I know.

Cabin John (where you say she lives) to RM is 21 min drive. Cabin John to Blair is 25 min drive. Just saying.
