Report of girl violently attacked at Lakelands Park middle school

I know this principal. She doesn't have a good reputation for working with a team. Often had other people do her work on prior roles.

Holy crap. From the Fox 5 article, MCPS is defending not calling the police in this matter:

The Montgomery County Police Department were not contacted following the violent assault.

Montgomery County Public School representative Christopher Cram told FOX 5 that policy for MCPS and MCPD dictates that school fights are "a matter of discipline and therefore governed by the MCPS Student Code of Conduct."

He said police would only be called in a fight on school grounds "if they were needed to address an ongoing altercation requiring their support to de-escalate or conclude the incident."

MCPS didn't call the police because they don't want this fight to count against them with MSDE, since the data from MCPD is what gets reported to MSDE.

Part 2 of the reply of when my son showed me the video. The fight was broken up quickly and it didn’t look like she made contact with her head. But I think that she had asthma or anxiety which probably got her panicking. So sad! I made my son delete the video. It’s very dry sad though. The principle needs to start taking accountability she has not done anything good while being at this school. Last year there was 3 fights in one day! My daughter also got confronted by a girl while many students were recording but thankfully the security guard broke it up before anything happened— speaking of; he got fired because a kid told him he would get someone to k!ll him so the security guard almost hit him! So crazy I am tired of this school.

Getting into any altercation—especially physical—can be so scary and I’m so sorry that happened to that girl. Schools are responsible to keep all students safe—this sounds like a lawsuit.

They fired Mr. Gregory??? He broke up a gang attack on my son in the bathroom and was the only one who had any kind of authority over those kids in that place. No wonder it's become even worse!! I can't believe he was fired. They should beg for 100 more of him.

She wasn't taken to the Inova trauma unit from Gaithersburg because of asthma.

Yeah, this story doesn't make sense. Unless she panicked and fell and hit her head as a result of the panic attack.

I was a little confused by the nextdoor posts though - in one post, the poster Holly said that school was covering up for a teacher who was involved? And she also said there was a video of someone saying something along the lines of good job Rita, you taught that B*** (referring to the victim)

Moderately Moco guy was on the thread and probably the other guys in the community from Fox 5 (I have seen some asking if they can cover a particular story) decided to republish this since it will get news coverage whether they publish it or not?

Glad to see some news coverage. Hope the girl does ok.

I am curious why you think news coverage invading this girl's privacy is important to you?

I am curious whom you are trying to protect? The victim's name can be withheld and the news story can still be published. We all know the LCPS rape story. I still don't know the victim's name, not that I needed to. But yes, this has to be on the news so MCPS cannot cover it up like they did the rapes years prior.

If it were my kid, I will not be keeping quiet if it can make the school accountable. Apparently the same kids that did this to the victim have a history of bullying.

Why delete the video? The more people who complain that videos were circulating boasting about this, action would have to be taken.

Parents on NextDoor are confirming the girl who pummeled her in the head has a history of this type of behavior.

You misread it. She never said covering up for an adult involved.
She said covering up. I took it to mean covering up the rhe amount of violence. And minimizing the severity of the violence.

G says:
"principal is a very stressful job, school environment as work place is also very very stressful. Principal has nothing to lose if he tells the truth, he has no capacity to micromanage the kids. He probably told the story as he was told. Facts in such situations take time to come out. And let him work, let him earn, let him pay his bills. I pray 🙏🏽 it shall be well with the victim"

H replied:
" it’s a she and she is covering up because one of her teachers did this to that girl so that’s why mcps is covering everything up to protect yet another teacher"

Did your son record the assault or obtain the recording some other way? Does it bother you that he had such a recoding on his phone?

Wait. So now we're saying the teacher assaulted the girl which resulted in the head trauma? Yeah, too many contradictory and confusing "facts" are floating around about this.
