If people regularly think you look a decade younger

The rest of you, you look 45. Trust me. You do. I myself look great. But 45.

Exactly! They look like 45 year old women who take are if themselves and haven’t let themselves go. Not someone who is 35, no matter how thin and fit they are, hate dye they use, how much they’re stayed out of the sun, Botox, tret sunscreen, etc.

Ladies, you still look your age but just like you have maintained your appearance. At least to other women…I think some ( straight ) men may assume you are younger because they are generally simpletons when it comes to these things.

This is hilarious!

Because some posters can’t accept that there are some middle aged women who do look a decade younger, they have decided to label those women delusional and straight men simpletons.

It’s okay if you look your age. There’s going to be a range of some women who look younger and some who look older. Maybe most women fall right at the looks their age spot, but there are outliers.

Girl the joke is on you, and yes, it’s hilarious. You look every bit your age.

My daughters school friends say i look 25, bless them, but that’s because I had my kids young (at least by insane NWDC standards) and what they actually mean is I’m 10 years younger than the median mom at this school. They have no idea what actual 25yos look like.

My husband, on the other hand, legitimately elicits genuine shock when people find out his actual age. He’s in great shape, dresses well, and doesn’t have grey hair, but I’m afraid his main secret is basically being Asian.

My friend’s dad is Asian and now in his 80s and basically looks and moves exactly the same as he did 25 years ago when I first met her. He could easily be mistaken for a man in his 50s. It really is amazing.

My mother genuinely did look a lot younger than her age basically into her 50s until her hair went all grey and she didn’t bother dyeing it. Her secret was that her skin was good, but she’s also a very petite, thin woman. Being physically tiny gives people the impression you are young.

I am totally curvy and look every bit my age.

Whoever wrote this sounds like an 80 year old man.

My mom is 82 and looks a lot younger than her contemporaries. I saw a photo of her at her high school class reunion, and she looks so much younger than everyone else. She gets a lot of compliments about how young she looks. Here is what she does:

1. She has always been slender.
2. She is confident in herself.
3. She keeps up with current events and likes to talk about interesting topics, rather than just about her grandchildren or what happened in the past.
4. She does not talk about medical issues.
5. She generally is not a complainer.
6. She has all the latest technology.
7. She wears stylish outfits, and is always a bit dressy. She invests in her appearance. She would never in a million years wear sweatpants or a hoodie. She always looks put-together - from her coat to her outfit to her shoes.
8. (She does not dye her hair, and so it's lucky that she only very recently turned slightly grey. If she were willing to dye her hair, I think that she would look even younger.)
9. She eats healthy foods, and gets sufficient rest. (She has been fortunate to have good health throughout her life, with the exception of a bout with Stage 3 cancer, which she managed to overcome (thank you Lord).

I have olive white skin skin. I had a baby face which now has thinned out to look like high cheekbones. I’m in shape and avoid the sun.

Both things can be true. What 40-50 used to look like was like a granny with a short hair cut and overweight. If you don’t look like that you already look good. Then of on top of that you have good genetics, you can been seen as younger. Sadly though, only for so long. I probably can only pull off late 20s until my 40s and then I’m on 30s and so on. At some point, you just age and it sucks!

That's not how it works. In your 40s, you will look 40. It's not that hard to tell how most people age especially when you stand next to someone who actually is in their 30s. There are plenty of tells.

+1. People routinely told me I looked 10-15 years younger than my age until I had kids (late) and hit about 45. Now I just look my age. However, I don’t care (professionally it’s more useful to me to look older anyway) and don’t do anything to try to look younger.

I mean, if there’s a vast range of ways to look at 45, maybe that means that there is no official “45 look,” and all this posturing about looking older or younger than a particular age is pointless.

I get this one…..
Asians rarely age.
Or they do it on their own time.

Like Asian no raisin.
And Black people usually age well too hence “Black Don’t Crack.”

However aside from race + good genes:

• Color gray hair (if any) often

• Oily skin is hell during adolescence - however it is a blessing in middle-age.
Nothing beats moist & unlined skin at 45!

• Keep teeth yellow-free and use eye cream both day + night.
Neck and chest cream as well.

• Keep your weight HEALTHY.
Not too thin or overweight either.

• Use sunscreen whenever out in the sun.
Bar none.
And if out in the sun for prolonged period > do not forget to re-apply at regular intervals.

• Do not smoke (tobacco or weed), drink excessively or use illicit drugs.

• Finally use techniques to relieve stressors as too much stress can definitely take away from one’s youth. 😃

Snail mucin twice per day, botox once a year, not too much make up. Slender. Dress nice for work. I am 53. I had upper eyelid done, but because it drooped due to Lyme. Hair always done, even on the weekends. But it is fast with Revlon.

I am a healthy-thin weight (like a size 8, medium), have no gray hair and don't dye my hair - it's cut in a long bob, use sunscreen regularly and have very few wrinkles, get good sleep. I keep up with clothing trends but don't overdo that.

But I agree that it's mainly heredity and your perceived lifestyle.

Unless you are very tall, size 8 is not thin, ever, never, ever ever.

DP. At 5'9 a size 8 puts me in healthy/thin. When I'm a 6, people try to feed me.

Obnoxious. I’m also 5’9 and wear size 8 pants but smaller shirt sizes and dress sizes and I’m thin, like people comment I wish I were skinny like you thin. Like previous poster, if I slim down even more people think I’m sick or ask me to eat.

Same. I'm 56 with no grays yet. My mom has a little bit of gray at 83.

Size 8s look fine and healthy but it's not thin. I've been a 2 for the last 20 years -- I feel thin. People don't try to feed me, I just look fit. For the 6 months post partum with my second kid, I needed to buy pants that were more like a 6/size 27 waist and I did not feel thin.
