If people regularly think you look a decade younger

I used to look five years younger than my age, but since I had a medical crisis, I look my age now.

+1 I think this is right - those of us who smugly list off all the things we do to stay looking young, mostly just haven't been faced with the kind of crisis yet that ages you in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry about your medical issues, PP.

Whoever wrote this sounds like an 80 year old man.

Genetics (olive skin, almost no gray or wrinkles at 54), retin-A for 30 years and always exercised 5-6 days per week my entire life. I can box jump, burpee, run, lift and squat heavy weight, etc.

There are some things I do (sunscreen, prioritizing daily exercise and sleep), but most of it is entirely out of my control. Genetics, personal or medical crisis, etc. I'm sorry, too, PP. I hope the worst of the crisis is behind you.

I suspect that many of the women who do tons of procedures (and yes, botox counts) in an attempt to look younger get the comments about looking younger from polite, well-meaning people who can tell by their appearance that “no way you’re 40! You don’t look a day over 30!” is the exact compliment those women want to hear…

+1. Or black. No one thinks white women look a decade younger.

Black skin hides wrinkles, but if you are able to be white and have blonde hair olive color you'll look even younger as white blonde is more attributed to youth

Ha! My 80-year-old aunt once proclaimed that she is not old enough to wear Alfred Dunner

Target! No, it's genetics. i use Target night moisturizer, a day one with SPF, just started using ROC on my forehead b/c I saw some lines. I am 50 and it's assumed I'm 40. I have a high-level job and get told by old white men that I'm too young to understand this or that in my field. No I don't. I was already working in the field at that time. SOrry, wrong thread.

Don’t entirely agree. Some people do say those things to be polite or to flatter. But some people do look younger than they would w/o all the work they do and the money they spend and so some comments are genuine.

Me and all my AA friends (approaching 50) look so much younger than the white people I know.

Also super oily skin through my 30s and sunscreen.

I"m white but also had super oily skin up until about a year ago (i'm 50 now). I wonder if that's part of it.

Here we go again.

A preschooler once guessed I am 8 years old. My secret is talking to preschoolers.
