They know it won’t pass, and are holding it up so their rich friends can cheat on their taxes. Republicans don’t actually want to govern, which you seem to have forgotten.

People have the right to protest, and the Republican attempts at trying to chip away at that right are downright scary. DeSantis is talking about punishing people protesting on Florida college campuses. He had the nerve to call it “material support.”

These protests aren’t so benign. You have people holding swastikas, denouncing Jews and supporting Hamas, a terrorist group. I’m a democrat but I agree with DeSantis on this.

That’s free speech. The first amendment is most important when you don’t agree with them.

Also, let’s not forget about the swastika-loving group that supports DeSantis, and all the books about Jewish life that have been pulled from Florida schools.

I understand free speech and even hate speech is protected. But on a college campus, students should be safe and protected. Those protests could incite violence against Jewish students.

The democrats have turned their back on us.

Let’s not sugar coat it. See it plainly.

Incitement is not protected speech, but a protest is not incitement. Ask Trump about that.

These protests glorify violence, which is especially worrisome on a college campus.

I understand why Democrat extremists are pushing away Jewish voters I just don’t understand why Republicans are an acceptable alternative? Especially while Democrats in office are consistently supporting Israel.

Genuinely asking. I’d like to understand.

I think this crowd care about supporting zionism and not stopping real antisemitism.

That seems to be the real deal.

Because anyone who is truly wiling to shunt aside all else for Israel isn’t making very sound choices.

I agreed with you a month ago. But there is a difference between being critical of Israeli politics, and what is currently happening on the left. Rashida tlaib just tweeted a video of people chanting from the river to the sea- saying it’s “an aspirational call.” It’s an aspirational call to annihilate israel and Jewish people. There is a growing squad comprised of overt anti semites like her. Biden is not an anti semite. But the next generation of democrats are increasingly so. I will vote for biden. But what’s happening in the house amongst democrats, and what will eventually hit the senate, is gravely concerning.

Has Biden been supportive of Israel? What about Anthony Blinken? Chuck Schumer?

The OP isn't complaining about moderates like Biden. The OP is concerned with progressives who are so wrapped up in the oppressor/oppressed dynamic that they've shoehorned Israel/Palestine into it.

I thought this thread was about how Biden has lost support of Muslim Americans and that will impact Michigan’s electoral votes. But Wow! So, now American Jews will vote R bc more Democrats are calling for a ceasefire?

Did you see this Bill that calls for expulsion of Palestinians living in the U.S.: https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4292692-gop-rep-zinke-proposes-bill-to-ban-palestinians-from-entering-us/amp/

Yep. Introduced by a R. I guess he’s won him a lot of support with that move.

So sad.

+1 I am very glad that biden seems supportive but I worry about the Democratic Party in another two generations. That over twenty democrats couldn’t support a simple statement that there shouldn’t be anti semitism in colleges is worrying.

I’m beginning to think it’s social media. The youth are easily manipulated by messaging, and they seemingly lack critical thinking skills to understand two things can be good or bad at the same time.

Ironically, everything must be binary for them: good or evil.

The next election was already going to be a crapshoot…but now it feels like an inflection point for the soul of the Democratic Party. We need a younger yet wise and dynamic leader to inspire a coalition of voters who we are and what we stand for. Where’s that unicorn hiding? Go find him and start trotting him out…on social media.

Not fair to label the entire party based on what many/most Dems consider to be the fringe actions of a dozen or so far left members of Congress.

My two cents: this might be the end of the squad. They just might lose donors and voters. And based on the districts, some of those fringe Dems were very likely catering to the demographics of their districts.

Are you unhappy with the 12 billion package MAGA will deliver? Does the IRS cut bother you?

Or you could have a clean 12 billion bill and a side of Jew hatred.

Place your bets and votes.

“Jew hatred”? Seriously off your rocker…

If by college kids, you mean Rashida tlaib, Jamaal bowman, and other members of congress…

There are like 4-5 hard left voices in Congress, Out of 435. Their influence is vastly overstated

It just goes to show you that anyone can stop thinking rationally and fall under the sway of right wing propaganda.

Does the deficit matter or not? Because the IRS cut will lead to a blowup of the deficit.

Since when did Biden become MAGA? That’s a very odd claim you are making. Do you really think Biden is MAGA? And Blinken, Schumer, Peolosi? All MAGA?
