Wasn’t it Republican extremists who chanted “Jews will not replace us” through college towns? Whose politicians are dining with and associating with actual Nazis? I understand why Democrat extremists are pushing away Jewish voters I just don’t understand why Republicans are an acceptable alternative? Especially while Democrats in office are consistently supporting Israel. Genuinely asking. I’d like to understand.
I think this crowd care about supporting zionism and not stopping real antisemitism.
That seems to be the real deal. Because anyone who is truly wiling to shunt aside all else for Israel isn’t making very sound choices.
I agreed with you a month ago. But there is a difference between being critical of Israeli politics, and what is currently happening on the left. Rashida tlaib just tweeted a video of people chanting from the river to the sea- saying it’s “an aspirational call.” It’s an aspirational call to annihilate israel and Jewish people. There is a growing squad comprised of overt anti semites like her. Biden is not an anti semite. But the next generation of democrats are increasingly so. I will vote for biden. But what’s happening in the house amongst democrats, and what will eventually hit the senate, is gravely concerning.
+1 I am very glad that biden seems supportive but I worry about the Democratic Party in another two generations. That over twenty democrats couldn’t support a simple statement that there shouldn’t be anti semitism in colleges is worrying.
I’m beginning to think it’s social media. The youth are easily manipulated by messaging, and they seemingly lack critical thinking skills to understand two things can be good or bad at the same time. Ironically, everything must be binary for them: good or evil. The next election was already going to be a crapshoot…but now it feels like an inflection point for the soul of the Democratic Party. We need a younger yet wise and dynamic leader to inspire a coalition of voters who we are and what we stand for. Where’s that unicorn hiding? Go find him and start trotting him out…on social media.
