I'm also a teacher and I wish more people would work from home. It would make my commute much more tolerable. |
Wow, you're quite "busy" aren't you, watching your neighbors at all hours, taking down their hours, looking into their windows, noting their possessions and what they cost. Clearly you are not employed. Maybe you should be because you have so much time on your hands and if you were gainfully employed you wouldn't be stalking your neighbors. Yikes. |
We've sadly lost some of our best staff because of RTO. They didn't want to come back so they left. And it's been hard to replace them with employees who were as good as they were. |
I work swing shift in an ER. 0300 to 0200 or so. Part time. Q |
Power play. Managers can't stand the thought they might not be necessary. Upper management tends to be authoritarian. If you have staff who aren't responding then put them on notice and then let them go. No need to punish those who are super productive at home. And there are a lot of them out there. |
Are you sure RTO was the real problem? Or just a really convenient bridge-sustaining excuse to give for why they are leaving. |
Neither you nor first responders are going in person to then sit in front of your computer and have Zoom meetings. That is what some of us are doing and it's staggeringly dumb to clog up the roads and atmosphere for this. |
Yes, it was. I know these people. A couple of them quit without even having new jobs. They had no desire to be back in office full time. |
Having eyeballs isn’t synonymous with stalking. Also we’ve been at this for years now — which is why OP is panicking about her loss of soup-on-demand. Only the oblivious wouldn’t notice what their direct neighbors are doing for *years* I’m gainfully employed as a healthcare hero 🙄. People used to buy us pizzas in mid-2020 because we were frontline workers. Now they sit at home making soup and sniffing candles and blame us when they can’t get an appointment for another 2 months. |
The economy is getting tighter. Go back to work in the office. |
No. |
Worry about yourself and not what others are doing. You will be much happier! |
we bill by the hour so i can see. but my 3 prior jobs were all remote with no timesheets and it wasn't a problem there either except in rare circs and then we just fired those ppl. either you're avail at all times on slack or you said you are stepping out or if neither happens then you can't work remotely (or maybe at all) |
THIS. I give zero fs if someone picks up their kid if they are then online till whenever it takes to get a pitch finished. If they dont get work done then it's a problem whether in office or at home. that has always been a problem. people slack off in offices too. I spent 12y at offices and did about 15% of the work i do now from home. |
you do you queen. |
