Isn't it apparent that if you prioritize private education you may not have money left to go on expensive trips? This was certainly true for my family growing up. Middle class child of immigrants who went to a NE boarding school. My own two kids are going through publics all the way simply because we could not make the same sacrifice my parents made for me.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Because they won’t tank the family finances for private school? Get over yourself.

Your reading comprehension is abysmal.

That’s private education for you. Maybe a public Ed would’ve helped with those basic skills!

I mean, yeah, that's nervy, but you need to roll with stupid comments (about this or anything else). Try:

"Ha, yeah, fair. All that money for school means we scrimp elsewhere."

Also - if she said "we're going to Italy" and then you discussed it for a while and expressed enthusiasm and then she asked about your summer plans, and you said "Oh, we're actually planning a staycation" then yes, she was nervy.

If she said "we're going to Italy" and you said "oh, that must be nice. We can't afford that, we're just staying home this summer" while paying for private school, then YTA in this story.
