Bad word them.

Your child probably earned that spot.
You have made sacrifices to send them there.

Wear the hoodie. Drive the car. Be a part of the community.

That person is a jerk. Don't bend to match their vibe.

Amen! Say it louder for the people in the back! My kids asked me to put the decal on the back of the car and they proudly wear hats and sweatshirts of their school. I see parents who have bumper stickers for public schools and I think it's ridiculous that we should hide because of the haters.

THIS. This is a precisely the basis of my private school decision. Paying tuition is why I cannot afford anymore luxurious vacations and that’s just fine with me! What can be spent is going to education (not that it, or anything else about my life, is the business of my coworkers!!). She is rude, envious and immature IMO to make such a comment. She would swiftly be added to my list of ignored coworkers.

You people are way to uptight and defensive.

Yeah that magnet goes right in the trash in our house. They are tacky.

What about all the bumper stickers I see on cars that say "my kid is an honor role student at (name the public school}? Are these people tacky?

Poor spelling is tacky, stickers supporting your child or their school community are not.

(I am a single parent which may or may not mean anything). She had the nerve to say “if i could afford to send my child to a $40k school i would go on more expensive trips”. I told her let me get back to my office and walked away. I never told this coworker or anyone at work that my child goes to private. The only way she would know is from my vehicle. Just venting. She caught me off guard.

How will it affect your child if you take it off? Most parents put it on because it helps their child feel connected and like they belong. Maybe for your DC too?

Are you kidding me? We have never put the school sticker on our car and our kids have never asked why and they have always felt connected to their schools. This is a ridiculous angle.

I'm not OP - but it's absolutely rude to EVER talk about how much $ someone else has or how much $ they spent on something - ESPECIALLY if the person in question never brought up $ in the first place.

Op, you should have told her that it’s *because* you are spending $40k on tuition that you can’t afford an expensive vacation. I know that’s our reason for not going on fancy vacations. That, and the dog.

Never understood why anyone would put their child’s school on their car. What is the point?
