Unfortunately the data doesn’t show it was safer. It was safer in the 90’s than it was in the 80’s. There was a steep decline in crime from the 90’s until today. Crime has risen since 2020 but it’s no where close to what it was in the 80’s/90’s. |

Obviously this proves that racism in policing and police traffic enforcement doesn't exist????? |
I would love for police to not be busy with low level traffic stops, that way they could be stationed in places with repeated carjackings and actually prevent them. |
In other words you’ve never been to the DTSS farmers market. Which by the way is fabulous. |
I'm hoping for a lot more automated traffic enforcement, and I mean a lot. Red light cameras, stop sign cameras, speed cameras. All over the county. Automated enforcement is more effective and a better use of police resources than human (police) enforcement for such violations. |
How do you know that to be true? The few studies that have been done on this show that black people actually do speed more often than whites: "The study involved photographing tens of thousands of drivers on the turnpike last spring while clocking speed with a radar gun. It found that black drivers sped much more than other drivers, according to three people who have reviewed the unreleased report. The racial gap was far wider than officials had expected and, in the politically charged controversies over profiling, the data could be used by defenders of the state police to argue that one reason black drivers are stopped more often than whites is that they are more likely to speed." https://www.nytimes.com/2002/03/21/nyregion/study-suggests-racial-gap-in-speeding-in-new-jersey.html |
Really? You're.citing a 20 year old news article about an unreleased report? |
| When people make reference how bad Maryland Drivers, is that code for black people? I live in Montgomery, but work in PG. The driving in PG is much worse in Montgomery in my experience. |
You should read up on what "felony murder" is. It's not murder. It's when you didn't kill anybody, but they charge you with murder. |
I don't think so. Also, the road conditions are even more encouraging for dangerous driving in Prince George's than in Montgomery. That probably explains most of it, if not all of it. |
Yeah this one unnerved me- I was there, parked in the surface lot by Target/Costco, with my 4yo right around that time. We must have left right before it happened. Does the county government even recognize this as a problem? You should feel unsafe taking your kids shopping during the daylight hours, but this really makes me reconsider whether I should. |
Thanks for replying. I can certainly see people taking advantages, especially impatient ones, of the longer stretches especially in the northern parts. |
I feel as if they are turning a blind eye to this. They’re not talking about it they want to pretend like it is not happening. Their focus is on everything, but this. |
