Tesla is offering incentives for the new ones. https://electrek.co/2022/12/15/tesla-tsla-offers-10000-free-supercharging-miles-to-buyers-as-it-tries-to-create-urgency/ |
Musk is an idiot. And I hate Teslas and all EVs. Having said that we all have to get over this notion of only buying things that completely conform to our political views. That should not enter into the picture at all. |
Why? |
+1. Also, what have EVs done to hurt you? |
What? I have every right not to support a company that I disagree with their political views I will never shop at Hobby Lobby or Home Depot or Publix. MY RIGHT as a consumer. You have the same right to not shop at Lowes.... |
EVs suck and what do you think powers the charging station that charges EVs? That’s right - fossil fuels. |
And what I am saying is that you should shop there. We need to stop picking sides. Someone's political views cannot be the decider. The product has to be. Republicans and Democrats are about an inch apart. We like to think its miles but it is not. Why would you not shop at Home Depot? The others I get. |
They are the future. Just 20-40 years away from being helpful or really any good. For example -- I think it likely that all of the EVs sold today and in the next 5-10 years will be obsolete right after that. The key is going to be small batteries that are swapped at service like stations not what is in cars today. |
Not PP but “members who voted against certifying Biden’s win received a whopping $22m post-January 6 from the PACs of 700 corporations. Besides Koch’s PAC, the other top corporate PACs were those of Home Depot and Boeing that respectively ponied up $593,000 to 44 members and $520,000 to 27 members.” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/sep/23/koch-bankrolls-election-denier-candidates?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other This is capitalism. Lowes and Home Depot are not that different and offer many of the same products. Political affiliation is one thing that differentiates them. It would be difficult for me to boycott Boeing but boycotting Home Depot is easy, I just need to drive a little further from my house. |
This argument is becoming obsolete. Around 60% of power generated in California is not from fossil fuels, and that portion is increasing rapidly every year. https://www.energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/california-electricity-data/2021-total-system-electric-generation |
EVs are plenty good right now. They may not have swappable batteries yet, but most can go 200 or 250 miles on a charge. Meanwhile the climate continues to warm and we need to drive something while we wait for this utopia 20-40 years off. |
| This is news to me! I guess I’ll trade in my gas guzzler for a Tesla to save face! |

Wrong. Don’t try to normalize Republican behaviors over the last few years. Treason, corruption, homophobia, misogyny are not “inches” away. People absolutely SHOULD take political contributions in mind when deciding where to spend their money. |
