NOPE

You still drive one I know you are a racist antisemite idiot.

Easy.

Got rid of mine so I have no issue thinking this.

Not to mention we had three all three were absolute crap.

Ridiculous. People can't just sell or trade in their cars like that. Good for you. I'm happy you feel good about your decision, but a lot of people can't take the financial hit of selling and buying something with the same types of features.

How is your personal decision not to take a one-time hit of a few thousand dollars different than, say, Wal-mart's decision to put profits ahead of other ESG values??

It is more than a few thousand dollars to be fair. Those cars cost between 50-100k new. It is more likely someone would lose tens of thousands of dollars buying something comparable. Not to mention it just seems wasteful.

Lot's of other electric vehicles to choose from if that's your thing.

Your friend should visit a therapist.

Why? Give money to an Elon musk company if you want but plenty of reasonable people would rather spend their hard earned cash elsewhere.

This is only on DCUM. No one I know IRL would ever pass judgement on someone for owning a Tesla. It's utter BS. Trolls be trolling.

Exactly. I really don't think any of this is for real.

Not for owning one maybe but buying a new one? No. Don't. Spend your money on something better than a product that does not stand up against hate speech, insurrections, and trashing women's rights.

+1

Tesla owner. Not buying another one.

Meh. I'm pretty liberal, and being a Tesla owner isn't keeping me up at night. Your friend needs to find other things about which to be outraged.

It's not outrage about this issue. But when it is time to spend all that $$$ for a car, don't choose Elon. That's all.

NP. Check your privilege. Maybe people bought, potentially stretching, Teslas in hopes of making a responsible car choice for the environment. That Musk now has gone off the rails doesn't mean that most people can afford to lose "a few thousand dollars", which in many cases will be well more than a few, especially in this new economy we are going into. I am astounded that "a few thousand" means nothing to you. It is a lot to many of us.

The “friend” is nuts. Buying a Maga hat was an action meant to tell everyone your political leanings. Hundreds of thousands of people have had Tesla’s for years. They aren’t a political statement.

Is it? You wearing yeezy's these days? Cars are a larger investment, so there will be a lag time between those purchased earlier and those purchased now, but you're kidding yourself if 2022 and later models of teslas won't send a MAGA message. This is especially true as additional (and better, at least inasmuch as the batteries don't literally ignite) electric alternatives hit the market.

Used Teslas are selling for above list price anyway, so you wouldn't really take a hit.

Ironic since most Magats can't afford a Tesla.

Definitely false: Trump beat Biden handily among people making $100,000 or more, while Biden won among lower income levels.

Just talked to a sales person. Car market is definitely softening.

We had a 20-year, fully prepaid lease with a solar company that Tesla later acquired on our old house. Should the current owners get rid of the solar panels to avoid being considered hypocrites by OP? We never paid any money to Tesla (the acquisition was years after we paid the full lease amount up front), but they're still making money selling SREC credits now.

(Obviously I think that would be ludicrous but I'm curious how far OP wants to take this.)

And have long been other plug in options. They just weren’t prestigious enough for the luxury car folks. Anyway glad people are finally getting it.

This — I thought he was vile a few years ago, and also didn’t think much of those who bought into his cult of personality and/or bragged about their Teslas.
