What's the problem with dating a separated person?

Do they have kids? That makes the divorce process take longer and be a lot more complicated. I wouldn't want to be with someone who was going through that just because of the toll it would take.

No kids, it's six months being separated in VA. It is technically a crime to commit adultery, which you are doing if you are still legally married, but they haven't prosecuted anyone for it in basically forever.

I started dating my current husband when I was only separated from my first husband. A month or so in it was finalized. No kids, easy divorce. Obviously I was honest about it, which it sounds like your guy was, too.

Unecessary drama.

My friend has been dating a separated guy for 4 years and they haven’t gone public because he doesn’t want it to mess up his custody or whatever (this is what he says). I can’t imagine being a secret gf in your thirties.

My dad had a friend who was separated for like forever and had a girlfriend. And then the dude died and the wife was front and center at the funeral while the gf had to basically skulk around in the back.
