I just don’t understand this perspective. Neither Charles nor Diana were in love with each other by the end of their marriage, and they both were miserable and having affairs. So they should have just kept making each other miserable and having affairs because that would be better for the crown? I get it, people loved Diana, but this is advice you would give to no one you care about. |
| I much prefer Camilla, and I’ve never gotten the Diana worship. Yes, she did some good with her AIDS and landmine activism, but all of the Royals have causes they support. But it’s well known that she had a lot of mental problems and was volatile and toxic to live with. She pushed her elderly stepmother down a flight of stairs! |
Camilla used to look like a hard faced wet sack 40 years ago. Don’t lie.
|
The beatification of Diana is based solely on the memory of her youth, style and beauty. No one truly cares about her “good work” photo ops. No one sings Princess Anne’s praises although she is known as the hardest-working royal. I can only think that uneducated women with internalized misogyny participate in this Princess/Ugly Stepmother fairy tale trope. Ageist and sad. |
No one sings Anne’s praises because she wants it that way? She banned the press from her engagements in the 80s after it came out her first husband had a child out of wedlock the same age as their daughter. |
He never should have married Diana. And when he did he should have stayed faithful. Diana would have lived him til the end. And not like Camilla has nothing to do with liking Diana. I don’t know anyone who likes the other woman, |
What gave you this impression? The example set by her mother? Her multiple affairs after discovering Charle’s infidelity weren’t exactly testament to any deep constancy on her part. |
So he should have been forced to endure a loveless, basically arranged marriage till the end despite the fact that affairs are commonplace among that lot. And she as well. Sounds great! |
Camilla already speaks on matters of substance. I saw her at one of her August appearances in a small village in Charles's Duchy of Cornwall. She met with the local woman's group (but there were many men there too) and discussed the work the women do on behalf of the Macmillan Trust to support cancer victims. She was very articulate, particularly about hospice care, and one of the local midwives told me she was very well respected. The royals cannot speak on political matters, but Camilla certainly seemed to know her stuff. Charles was the at RNLI at the same time, and people said he was very impressive too. |
Queen Elizabeth approved the new Prime Minister two days before her death. Did your gran gran do that? |
Charles' paternal grandmother hid a Jewish family when Greece was occupied by Nazis. Her dying request was to be buried on the Mt. of Olives in Jerusalem and she is also a Righteous Among Nations. Three of his paternal aunts were married to Nazis. Possibly with his father's guidance, he worked out those strange circumstances. |
Charles has also bought back some of the jewelry given to Alice by the Prince that was sold by her family on her death and given to Camilla. |
The Queen Mother was kicked out of Buckingham Palace by her daughter and very reluctantly moved to Clarence House. She bought her own castle in Scotland. Charles set up Camilla well before the marriage and she will inherit millions from him. Harry was able to leave the royal family because he inherited money from his mother that was part of the divorce settlement from Prince Charles. Charles owns a great deal of Cornwall and will leave Camilla quite well off. |
I would not advise them to shack up with their affair partner. |
Camilla was left $2M when her dad died which has grown to $5M minimum. |
