Charles would have gladly married Camilla had he been allowed. But he was told no and to find someone “more suitable.” It was not all on him. The Queen realized she should have let him marry whom he wanted. But then W&H would never have been born.

What’s funny is Charles’ choice was a better fit than his parents’ for the job. Camilla has really done a good job and really understands the role.

She did not. I've seen other pictures and it's definitely a light gray. Even Diana describes it as gray in an interview she gave about seeing Camilla at the wedding

Camilla started dating Charles to make jealous her long time boyfriend who was cheating on her with Princess Anne. She got engaged as soon as he proposed. Camilla’s first husband was a philanderer who never stopped cheating. Also, Charles proposed and was rejected by two other women the year before he proposed to Diana. Diana was not a choice forced by his parents.

Prince Phillip basically told Charles he needed to sh*t or get off the pot regarding Diana. They didn’t necessarily want her specifically but they wanted him to get married immediately to someone suitable and she was the willing candidate of the moment so they absolutely pushed Charles to propose. I imagine his earlier rejections only made the situation more desperate in their eyes.

It will be interesting to hear all participants quickly agree that one American cannot change British law. I don't know if anyone answered the original poster's questions but if Charles predeceased Camilla, she will still be known as Queen. Probably Queen Dowager as the new consort would be Catherine.
