The Queen Consort

Love her. Always disliked Diana, sorry. They will be a good bridge King and Queen between the grandeur of the Elizabethan years and the modernity of Prince William and his family.

Also, I am watching the BBC and the crowd was amazing. Quiet and respectful with shouts of God Save the King. It’s something Americans don’t understand and that fine and preferred. We live in a Republic. We should find the whole thing weird. That’s why we live here and not there. But no major party in the UK has ever run on a platform that includes ending the monarchy and they won’t. They’d have to change the entire makeup of the country and government. It would be expensive and time consuming. It’s too embedded in the culture. It would be like starting a whole new country. Won’t happen in our lifetimes, sorry.

If she outlives Charles, she’ll become the Dowager Queen. She’ll probably be set up in a cottage in Windsor park and live out her life ignored by her stepson.

Certainly there will be a lot of eyes on Charles and Camilla during his coronation.

William will probably be an old man before he has a chance to be King.

Hopefully I will live to see the reign of King George. (I think their should be limits to how long they reign. Charles should step down at 80 and William at 70, George would be 39 then.)

It’s usually a job until death as Queen Elizabeth recently demonstrated.

What choice did they have?

He can kick her out completely unless Charles leaves her one of his properties.

You’re talking about William? He’s not going to do that. They’re quite close now.

Diana cheated too

What if she divorces him after she finds out he has other mistresses? Is she the Ex Queen Consort?

Diana has been dead since 1997. LET IT GO. Jesus.

Charles was way older when William was born, so William will be younger than Charles by a good amount when he ascends.

Sometimes is it good for the elderly to step aside and let younger minds lead/make decisions.

But that's just not how it works in the UK. If you'd like to follow a royal family that follows your preferred protocol, may I suggest the Spanish or Dutch Royal Families?

Legend has it that in the early days, Camilla flirtatiously reminded Charles that her great-grandmother, Alice Keppel, was long-standing mistress to a previous Prince of Wales who became King Edward VII. She then apparently said: "So how about it?"

Well I never!

Charles’ parents lived to be 99 and 96. He’s got longevity genes on his side at any rate. He’s 73 now. He could easily reign for 20 years. William is 40 now. He has a strong probability of ascending the throne in his early 60’s.

And it seems like she and Kate are close too. The kids look at her as a grandmother (and it looks like she really loves them) so I think William will make sure she is taken care of. I actually think he treats her better than her own kids do (not that they don't have a good reason but that's another issue).

I never understood the disdain for Camilla. Did they handle the situation well? No, of course not. But that was years ago and she "destroyed" a marriage that was doomed from the get-go. They're just two people who loved one another and finally said, screw it, we want to be together. Good for them--they seem really happy. And Diana wanted out of royal life anyway. Awful that it ended the way it did but Camilla didn't kill her.
