Do most people come home, cook dinner then shower or reverse come home, shower, cook dinner?

I don't know if this is a cultural thing, but in east Asia, showering before bed - like removing your outdoor shoes - is considered hygenic.

Do you change your sheets daily to have clean sheets every night?

Two showers in a day is wasteful and bad planning.

Agree--what a terrible waste of water!

Agree. Maybe right before bed (like immediately before) but almost always in the morning.

Same.

For most of my life it was in the morning. For the months during covid when I worked from home and no one was going anywhere I showered mid afternoon and put sweats back on. I loved that.

I know quite a few adults who shower at right right before bed, especially in the summer or if they are outside a lot (either b/c of sweat or pollen, etc). And some people don't have time to shower in the morning.

I get the shower at night if its super hot and/or pollen. But I don't get how showering at night can replace morning showers. Yuck.

This makes no sense. During the day I am outside and at work and moving about and such. Then a shower. Then my clean bed. In the morning, I am still clean. What is yuck about that? To me, not showering after getting dirty all day but getting in my clean bed is yuck.

Right, your bed stays cleaner too.

Even if I wasn't working from home (I get up 45 min before work) I wouldn't shower in the morning, it's not an efficient time of day for me. Showering at night is part of my bedtime routine (except every other night because of very dry skin and eczema).

I shower every other day in the mid morning. I work from home and usually take a call or two before hopping in. If I get sweaty from a workout or gardening or what not I’ll do a quick rinse right after but skip my hair.

I just can’t get over getting into clean sheets with day dirt on me. Ugh.

I don’t sweat at night. How are you getting dirty while sleeping?

+1 This is so weird. Who showers at night, goes to bed and wakes up dirty? That's disgusting. If you are sweating so much at night, then make your bedroom cooler/buy better bed linens/get fans, etc. I do not sweat at night nor do I get dirty while I sleep, especially after a nightly shower.

Just wait, sweetheart. Your time will come.

- Postmenopausal DCUMer who showers whenever possible

Yes, in peri menopause now and night sweats are no joke. Also, do you people never have sex at night? I definitely want to shower in the morning after that.

We got a bidet and it’s great for post-sex cleanup.

But don’t you get sweaty during sex?

I work in healthcare.

At the beginning of the pandemic I showered as soon as I walked through the door.

Now I make dinner/take kids to activities and then shower before bed. I have always showered at night (my whole adult life.) I love to get into bed clean. Plus, I already get up at 5:30a to get my kids up/breakfast/out the door for a 630a bus/I head to work. I would have to get up earlier to get in a shower - and I don't want to.

bath every night. Shower once a week when I wash my hair. in the AM only.

If I am making a nice dinner, shower before cooking. When I enjoy, I like to be clean.

Depending on what I’m cooking, I wouldn’t shower before making dinner. I can smell grill smoke on me after grilling, same with the smell from frying things.

I only shower first if I've been commuting on the metro during the summer. Otherwise, I shower after dinner.

I also do a quick rinse off shower each morning where I don't wash my hair. Like, literally hop in, soap up, rinse, hop out...under 10 mins.

Your quick shower is almost 10 minutes long? How long is a long shower?
