Do most people come home, cook dinner then shower or reverse come home, shower, cook dinner?

I shower at night. The mornings are too chaotic, what with getting DD out the door.

There are exceptions, though — on Saturday, when it was super hot, we were outside for the morning and DD and I both felt gross, so we did a mother/daughter spa thing and showered together. She’s 5 and loved it. I made a big deal of drying her hair, putting on moisturizer, etc.

Wouldn’t your PJs and robe then smell like food?

I once dated a guy who liked to wind down before dinner. He’d cook, then take a shower and get into comfy clothes, and then eat. He didn’t want his clothes to smell.

I know quite a few adults who shower at right right before bed, especially in the summer or if they are outside a lot (either b/c of sweat or pollen, etc). And some people don't have time to shower in the morning.

I get the shower at night if its super hot and/or pollen. But I don't get how showering at night can replace morning showers. Yuck.

This makes no sense. During the day I am outside and at work and moving about and such. Then a shower. Then my clean bed. In the morning, I am still clean. What is yuck about that? To me, not showering after getting dirty all day but getting in my clean bed is yuck.

I guess it depends on age/metabolism
I do sweat a lot at night, so morning shower is a must, even if I did shower at night.

Weird. Neither. Shower in the morning. Only kids take baths at night.

I usually shower in the morning. But I do change my clothes and wash my hands when I come home after work and then cook, etc...

Only shower at night if I am particularly dirty, sweaty or full of pollen.

Same.

If I do happen to shower in the evening, I'll probably just do a quick rinse in the a.m. mainly to wet down my hair for styling (it's short and usually looks like crap after being slept on)

DH is a germaphobe and showers in the morning, after work because of the train, and after yardwork/exercise or if he gets hot.

I shower after I work out, that time of day changes, but is never during dinner making. The only time I might shower during that time of day would be on a weekend after gardening if I was having an allergic reaction.

In those situations, I would shower before cooking because I just don't like feeling gross and tend to shower right after I become gross.

I usually change clothes when I come home, make dinner, change into PJs, and shower in the morning.

OP are you one of those people who can smell “outside?” Like a metallic smell? I imagine that would change things.

I shower in the morning and only shower at night if I've been actively sweating due to exercise or if I'm dirty from gardening.

I do change my clothes almost immediately upon entering the house from work. Not into pajamas, but into something more comfortable for walking the dog, lounging on the couch, etc.

I shower right before bed. I have to be at work at 7am and I’m not a morning person.

You must not have a family with activities they need to be shuffled to. Who gets in their Jammie’s for the night at 6pm??
