are 8th graders doing it?

That’s rare.

No, it’s not, especially if your parents are still married.

That’s weird. In my experience whether or not the parents were divorced had nothing to do with it.

-1 girl in my grade got pregnant
-1 boy/girl got expelled from school for getting caught having sex in a classroom during an after school activity
-I knew a girl who would give boys oral sex under the bleachers after school
-there was a basket of free condoms in each of the bathrooms

Yes, 8th graders are having sex.

Yes, they are, and parents still believe “maybe, but not my kid,” exactly as they were when I was 13 and we were all doing it. We still have reunions and they’re beautiful. No one I’ve ever met has ever regretted anything.

I find this hard to believe. I haven't talked about this with male friends that much, but every woman I have been friends with who had sex below the age of +/- 15 has regrets. Not necessarily "this ruined my life" regrets, but at least an acknowledgement that they were far too young for sex at that age. None of them are like, "oh yeah! Sex at 12 totally rocks! You should go for it! In this family, we fuxx!" with their own kids.

I get the feeling that PP is part of an incest family, and is wondering why his son doesn't want join in.

Here we have the PERFECT example of the parent burying her head in the sand. If it’s going on, then it must be because the family is a perverted outlier. She believes it could never happen in her family.

I haven't read all of this, but has anyone called OP out about not being able to use the word SEX? OP. Seriously.

OP - go watch the movie 13. Even more relevant today than it was back when it was made.

So you’re with Bill Clinton that BJs aren’t sex?

I would have been worried it was on the blocked list.

There is definitely some bias here. It's not nearly as common as posts here would make it seem and there are many, many who wait until college.

I was a tween fifty years ago in a conservative part of the country. Very little divorce. But we were almost all engaging in sex of some sort with each other. Very small school in a small town. Everyone knew everyone else’s business.

As I understand it, teen pregnancy has gone down since 16 and Pregnant aired on MTV. I think I’ll begin watching it with my daughter when she’s 11.

Every girl and boy are “in love” and every guy leaves the girl and she goes it alone. Mostly it is because the kids are ignorant about birth control or the girls are too timid to insist.

It has. But in my opinion that is not because teens are having less sex but because they’re getting better about using protection.

Lots of 8th graders are engaging in sexual activity. From what I’ve heard/known of around school it’s more commonly oral sex and hand jobs and such but definitely some are having inter course too.

I totally agree. If my daughter decides to have sex I want her to use protection. And know that if they can’t talk about sex and pregnancy STDs and herpes (which effects you forever, my sister is proof of that) then she shouldn’t be having sex. Maybe she can council friends. Or maybe none of this will work… We just watched “My So Called Life” and the main character dumps her 10th grade crush because he tries to pressure her into sex. And Buffy where sex is not casual but not shameful.

Wasn’t there a lengthy thread all about “where they do [it] “ in the last year or so?

Maybe it was HS kids.

Did it get deleted?
