As I understand it, teen pregnancy has gone down since 16 and Pregnant aired on MTV. I think I’ll begin watching it with my daughter when she’s 11. Every girl and boy are “in love” and every guy leaves the girl and she goes it alone. Mostly it is because the kids are ignorant about birth control or the girls are too timid to insist.
It has. But in my opinion that is not because teens are having less sex but because they’re getting better about using protection. Lots of 8th graders are engaging in sexual activity. From what I’ve heard/known of around school it’s more commonly oral sex and hand jobs and such but definitely some are having inter course too. -middle school teacher
I totally agree. If my daughter decides to have sex I want her to use protection. And know that if they can’t talk about sex and pregnancy STDs and herpes (which effects you forever, my sister is proof of that) then she shouldn’t be having sex. Maybe she can council friends. Or maybe none of this will work… We just watched “My So Called Life” and the main character dumps her 10th grade crush because he tries to pressure her into sex. And Buffy where sex is not casual but not shameful.
