BVR is requiring 5 year olds to wear KN95 masks

Are all other schools do the same?
Do you think 2 3-layers masks are easier for little kids than KN95 masks?

OP, kids with Cancer, TB and Pertussis have been wearing one all day for decades

and entitled. How did Beauvoir make this mistake and admit you

I am with you. My kid hates the mask and will only wear cloth and kiddo surgical masks. I don’t how I will convince kiddo to change in a week.

You don't have to convince them. It's not a choice! "Billy, the new rule is this." That's it. That's the conversation.

Yea, seriously. What the hell kind of terrible parent are you that you have raised a kid who thinks this is their choice, who thinks their feelings are more important than the rules as required by their school to keep people safe?? I am flabbergasted every time I read the parents writing “my kid won’t wear a mask”. Who the heck are you people? Having kids on the close myself I’m shocked Beauvoir lets people like you and your kid in.

You know we don’t love masks either (and I for one really dislike the way they feel) but it’s what is required these days to go out and about in the community. You just do it, whether you are 2 or 10 or 20 or 40 or 80. Only a huge spoiled BRAT would refuse to wear a mask because they don’t like how it feels. It’s what you have to do right now to do your part to make everyone safer.

“2-3 layer masks” are meaningless theater for Omicron.

Good for BVR.

Because I think it’s ridiculous. All kids are now vaccinated. All parents are boostered. Omicron is contagious, but milder (described like a mild cold). When does it end?!?!?
I lost all my patience at this point.

That’s nice. Feel free to homeschool if you don’t like it.

Speaking of community...I posted this in a different thread, but it is pertinent to this one as well.
The brother of a close friend of our family in Minneapolis- otherwise healthy 41 year old suffered from a massive brain hemorrhage. They are trying to keep him alive but there are no beds available in the ICU due to Covid. He is married with 2 small children.
No words.

When the surge is over can they get rid of the masks then? Yes under 5 can’t get vaxxed but that could be many months from now and they are the lowest risk. Has everyone lost their minds?

Once again, your child will need to wear an appropriate mask for the new, more transmissible variant no matter how much you whine, scream and stomp.

Deal with it.

Anonymous wrote:But so what if they get Omicron?!?! Covid was a nbd before Omicron for kids and now Omicron it really is just a cold! On top of that, all kids over 5 are (or can be) vaccinated. Why do we need to use these measures for our young children while bars, restaurants, concerts halls, theaters, movie theaters, clubs, etc are open?!?!?

Because 1) it’s a private school and they can make their own rules. If you don’t like them, you can withdraw. 2) wearing a mask does not have nearly the same economic impact as the other decisions you mention.

But those have much greater risk because they involve very contagious adults often sitting close to one another. Why do we always need to sacrifice kids in this country? In Europe kids under 6 don’t even wear masks

God, the drama. “Sacrifice kids!!!! OMG!!!!!!”

This is not changing. Your option is to homeschool blissfully mask free, period.

NCS has close to a 99% vaccination rate and have had no outbreaks until omicron showed up, only random cases here and there. That outbreak didn’t come from a school activity but it could’ve easily spread further especially with asymptomatic carriers if it had not been break. Of course we would all like to shed the masks but now is not the time. Who’s to say this can’t happen at BVR? All this to say that why not protect kids?? OP seems a bit out of touch with reality at this point.

Protect them from a cold? Teachers and staff should be vaxxed and boosted. There have always been risk for immunocpromised during winter flu season. The good news is that n95s are readily available for them and their family members. What exactly is the end game? If there was reason to believe masks would only be required during the surge it’d be more tolerable. But yes I do have a real issue with masking little kids who are learning to read and speak properly for years in end. What is the end game?

It is tolerable. Nobody cares about your “real issue.” You don’t sound mature enough to have children.

OP here and I agree 100%. There is no end in sight. Let the people in poor health stay at home or use the N95. Kids need to live a normal life at this point… it has been 2 years which is a third of my 6 year old’s life and 75% of my almost 3 year old’s. Let the kids get Covid and recover. Enough with the hysteria. My nieces in Florida are not required to wear masks at all and the world did not fall (and they never caught Covid either).

This is beyond ridiculous at this point and I can see why the other side is making fun of “us”.

The “other side” are low information idiots. I assure you as intelligent people, we don’t give a damn if they “make fun of us” like insecure middle school boys.

Many of my vaxxed and boosted teacher colleagues reported breakthrough illnesses this year that put them in bed for a week, and they were fully masked during the school day and in public, and unsure how they got it. Get a grip on reality. It’s only about 30 days we are asked to do this (unless those who don’t believe the science set up another surge for all of us) so I’m all in.

And? So what if teachers/ students/administrators get sick and need to spend a few days at home? Did they never get sick before Covid?

Your children will need to wear a mask. Just because it’s fine with you for their teachers get sick so your precious, precious bebe doesn’t have to wear the mean old mask doesn’t mean that’s OK with them. If you don’t like it, no one is holding a gun to your head to force you to continue to attend the school.

Simple.
