Maybe they should play at Bethesda then. Fall HS soccer and Mid Atlantic ECNL don’t mix. People sure spend a lot of money on private school to still do stupid things. |
Soon you will be like your older sisters team. Last place |
|
| A bit concerning for NOVA in the older age groups. 3 of top 4 in 06 age group are NC clubs. The top 7 teams in the U17 age group are none-NOVA clubs. The top 5 teams in the U18/19 age group are none-NOVA. |
Who TF is 😟 concerned? There are 14 teams per division. Anything in the top half of the table is respectable considering the level of competition. The difference between a top 5 and Top 8 ranking can be the result of one game. That’s how tight it is. Now, what’s really concerning is paying 11,000 a year to play easy competition in the GA and then bragging about how your in first place. Better off handing on participation trophies. |
I think the reality is setting in. People will argue it is dilution but at the older ages, the top players are identified and they flock to the top teams. Those on top teams, who don't play, go to less competitive teams. The fact that the best area players are at ECNL but clubs are not at the top level means that this area is not as deep in player and coaching talent as Richmond, Charlotte and Raleigh. The proof is in the recruiting. How many local players are signing with the top college programs, which have their pick of the elite talent from around the nation. Did UNC, UVA, FSU, Duke, UCLA, Stanford, PSU, etc. sign any local Class of 2022. Consider that a few years ago, McLean was competing for national ECNL titles with u18/19 teams that had players committed to UVA, UNC, Duke, Wisconsin, FSU, PSU, Georgetown, etc. What happened? |
There are 2022’s committed to top programs. It’s been discussed enough on this board. |
This isn't how dilution works. Top talent is top talent regardless of how many players are in the mix. Some years simply do not produce NT quality players. At many of the programs you have listed at least HALF of the rosters have players with some NT experience or exposure. Some years are deeper with players than others and that goes for all regions. With the greater number of players in NOVA playing ECNL than those regions you mentioned the player pool is pretty wide so there is no excuse for a top player to not be identified if one truly exists. |
They exist. They’ve been identified. They’re committed. |
| I am unaware of any 2022 in NOVA committed to an elite college program, i.e. one that has made it to the College Cup in the past ten years. You can either accept the reality that the 2022 and 2023 are down years or that there is something more serious going on with proper coaching/development. |
It is likely just down years. There isn't any significant coaching changes, many of the top coaches who were here ten years ago still are here. There is also the Covid factor which has affected the 22's and 23's the most in terms of recruiting. US Soccer obviously was unable to hold proper camps during this time as well. Lots of lost time and opportunities for all involved, even those bubble NT players. |
| Let’s see the graph. |
You’re moving the goalposts. PP mentioned Georgetown, Wisconsin, etc. Those aren’t “elite” programs that fit your College Cup criteria. What’s your list? Unc and FSU? |
South Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech have been to the College Cup in the last 10 years. There are commits at NOVA clubs to those programs. Wisconsin has not been since 1991. |
Just because there isn’t a commitment to UNC or FSU that doesn’t mean players in NOVA haven’t been recruited by those schools. |
