This is why you keep your mouth shut and allow the season to play out before beating your chest.

But outside of a single team within each age group, DMV area clubs seem to be struggling on a whole. When averaging the sum of points for each club (U13 thru U18/19), Charlotte SA, NC Courage, and Richmond are clearly the top 3 clubs overall. NC Courage swept BRYC and Arlington this past weekend. We know BRYC is struggling, but wasn't Arlington considered a "strong" club in Girls Academy last year??

Yes Arlington is doing about the same as they did in GA. Over Ga and ECNL are the same. No difference. Sorry ECNL parents.

Arlington 04 was top 3 in GA conference . They are 13th at 1-5-1 in ECNL

I'm not defending Arlington or GA at all, but last year's results don't have much bearing on this years early returns. This past summer you had basically two years worth of turnover due to COVID.

My response is in reference to the GA guy who thinks GA is remotely close to ECNL.

Is that you?

Nope - not me. But I do agree with you that in general, ECNL > GA.

This turnover can be validated by comparing rosters you know.

If you have that much time on yours hands, feel free.

You seem to state with certainty that there was 2 years worth of turnover. I don't think teams changed that drastically, change my mind.

Only anecdotally I realize, but every team I know, had at least 4 players change over. Some had more. I'm sure that some had less, but it's true that there was more turnover last year than a "normal" year due to many 2020 rosters primarily staying the same due to COVID (restrictions, tryouts cancellled, etc.).

Courage has already played all the VA clubs except Richmond....because Richmond had COVID that weekend.

So half the age groups are led by NOVA clubs? That’s a bad thing?

I was going to say this. 50% led by NOVA clubs and out of 14 total teams, 5 are in NOVA. Interesting math here and I'd say NOVA clubs doing just fine.

Yes, NOVA has a good team within each age group, but he OP was referring to NOVA as a whole. Current sum of 'points' for each club is as follows. None of the top clubs have played each other yet other than Courage and VDA. Keep in mind that Courage/NCFC is the only club that has both 1st and 2nd teams in this league.

CSA 14.00
Richmond 13.75
NC Courage 13.65
VDA 10.35
Loudoun 10.01
CESA 9.58
VA Union 9.07
Charlotte Independence 8.80
Arlington 8.64
NC Fusion 7.71
Wilmington 6.50
SCUFC 5.83
NCFC 4.59
BRYC 2.87

Just another way to look at it, but at end of the day, 3 of 6 age groups have a NOVA club on top. After that, only metric that matters is being in top 5 so you can attend post-season in Seattle for Champions League. Based on that, 3 of the top 5 (on your metric) show VA clubs, 2 of that 5 being from NOVA. Still showing NOVA doing very, very well.

yeah, will be interesting to see what this looks like in another month. Richmond hasn't played any of the NC clubs yet. VDA, Union & Loudoun haven't played Charlotte SA yet. A lot will change.

Agreed. Plus, some of NOVA clubs padded up their stats by beating up on Braddock Road and have not played some of the tougher clubs.

BRYC has played a max of 8 games and only faced two NOVA clubs.

Arlington has played only NC/SC teams, and the schedule has been almost all back to back weekends. We’ll see how things go when they start playing NOVA teams. I guess they got last pick of schedules because they were the last in? Not sure how that worked out, but such a ridiculous schedule has caused multiple season-ending injuries.

Arlington hasn't even played an away game yet. Hosted 4 NC clubs. How does that equate to getting lost pick of scheduling?

Arlington ECNL girls travelled to SC a few weekends ago and have not just played locally.

Arlington 08 girls played NC Courage (the 1st place team at u14) to a draw on Sunday. Arlington was ahead almost the whole game but gave up a late free kick with 3 minutes left to play resulting in a 1-1 tie.

VDA08 lost to NC Courage 3-0 and Loudon 08 lost 5-0.

Loudon 08 is not at the top of the conference or ahead of VDA or Arlington.

You need to look across all teams before making sweeping statements about Arlington not succeeding in ECNL.

It was reported that Arlington 08 beat Courage 3-0. This is shocking.

VDA, Arlington and Loudoun are at about the same level. I give slight edge to Arlington because VDA and Loudoun played BRYC, which is pretty much an automatic win.

BRYC struggling is an understatement.

Has Arlington played significantly more matches than other clubs in the area? You are grasping at straws, bruh.

It’s 08. It’s little kid soccer. So so much will change it two years. Breathe and enjoy
