Girls ECNL....1st month

Wisconsin has not made College Cup in two decades but Georgetown did in 2019. That being said, Wisconsin is still a strong program.

You’re moving the goalposts. PP mentioned Georgetown, Wisconsin, etc. Those aren’t “elite” programs that fit your College Cup criteria. What’s your list? Unc and FSU?

Elite is power 5 conferences. Any other definition is dumb and wrong.

I think the college decision process has changed over time. Most kids/families are prioritizing academics and seeing where/if the soccer lines up.

Georgetown is not Power 5 but is Elite. Not all Power 5’s are elite.

Consider that a few years ago, McLean was competing for national ECNL titles with u18/19 teams that had players committed to UVA, UNC, Duke, Wisconsin, FSU, PSU, Georgetown, etc. What happened?

There are 2022’s committed to top programs. It’s been discussed enough on this board.

2021 class had 2 players commit to Georgetown, 1 to Duke, 1 to UNC. I expect that 2022 class will have similar commitments.

Unless the kids are in private school VA high school soccer is played in the spring and shouldn't be much of factor right now.

Arlington has a lot of kids attending private school and playing soccer this fall. ALOT. Many are at schools like Visi, Holton, Saint Johns, O'Connell and others. It is a huge factor especially for a club that was not really that strong or deep to begin with. I would be pissed if I was a nonprivate school teammate. These kids prioritized high school soccer which is not as important as club soccer. Pick one. You can not play both. Well you can and then you get the scores that Arlington is getting.

Maybe they should have larger rosters

For them to have larger rosters they need to be able to attract good players. With their record who will want to play for them. McLean and Loudon have big rosters because kids want to play for winning teams. Arlington can barely get more than 15 girls on a team. When someone is hurt they pull from their lower teams and that further hurts the ECNL team as the lower team kids are not helpful. Arlington leadership should act like real leaders and tell girls that they need to choose high school or club for the fall season.

This is counter to what ECNL wants to promote. Also you would lose girls from a recruiting standpoint. Frankly there is nothing to be done on this front.

Arlington 08’s are crushing it. I doubt they will lose another games this year. They are making ECNL a joke or really just showing it for what it is…a water down league. A few top teams and everyone else who are just props….it’s like a few the Harlem Globetrotters and a bunch of the Washington Generals.

Loudoun, McLean and VDA 04/03 all tied NC Courage who have multiple UNC commits, a Duke commit and countless other commits.

That’s three NOVA clubs in a highly diluted area going toe to toe with the oldest team at a MEGA Club that covers the area of NOVA itself.

You don’t understand the landscape. NOVA has 10x the talent as Richmond. Just stop the non-sense.

Exactly. Why do I care about how many Elite P5 soccer players are coming out of this region? I only care about my kid and what is best for her. How many kids go to Elite P5 schools does little for my player. I just don't see why I would care one way or another.

There is enough money in this region that people don't care about the scholarships as much as you like to believe.

Everyone always puts where their kid goes to college on Facebook whether they play a sport or not, it is what parents and grand parents do.

Duke, UNC, Stanford, UVA, Michigan, UCLA, Princeton, Harvard, Penn State, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, etc, represent elite private and state institutions of higher learning that also have competitive soccer programs. You can have your cake and eat it too. Get real people.

Graduate programs snd high-end employers will take student-athletes all day long.
